@persson1113 I think you can go to the Sony site and download the software, but I've never tried to hook it up and use it for a webcam mic so I can't help you there. A decent mic for your computer can be found online used or new for around $20.
hey man, im an electronic music producer, and i would like to know if this works to save some samples for my tracks? something like a hit on a table or something like that? thanks please reply i need help :S
hey guys how would this neat device work if i took it to a concert that was extremly loud that my cam mic was giving static inmy audio would this device have better audio if i was recording with it while it sits in my pocket? wat do u guys think? plz reply.
I don't think this would work that well. It really does not do well with lots of surrounding noise. It's great for interivews with a single subject or in a class room without tons of ambient noise, but not in crowded settings. I use the Sony PCM M10 and PCM D50 devices for my job as a reporter, both do well with large crowds or rally's, but I've never recorded a concert with them. Thanks for checking out our YouTube page. Hope this info helps.
You won't have to sit in front if their isn't a ton of ambient noise in the class. I typically have this close to the person I am interviewing, but not always. It will work fine if as I said there isn't a lot of other noise. If there is other noise, you'll pick up whatever is closest to the mic, no getting around that. Give is a try at various distances at home to get an idea of how well it performs. Hope that helps.
The Olympus voice recorders really kick Sony's ass, don't they? I just ordered one, after owning a Sony ICD-PX320, and I expect it to be a lot better (sound quality wise)... I'm hoping.
Any company who makes a product like the ICD PX320 and sells it for more than $40 deserves to go bankrupt and close down forever.
Goodbye Sony. I will be doing the best I can, and try the hardest to completely boycott Sony forever. I will be telling everyone to stop buying Sony from now on.
I would disagree. I own an Olympus as well and I think the sound quality from the Sony ICD is far, far superior. I also own a PCM-D50 which I use for my radio reporting work and the pre-amps top those in the several thousand dollar range, without a doubt. Whatever Sony is using for technology, I for one appreciate the excellent quality.
I haven't tested it yet, but my guess based on its performance in the field would be more than 6 hours, maybe 10. However, you may want to check the specs at the sony website for details.
If I were to leave this in a spot for a very long time on Voice Activated mode and standard quality - how long would it keep recording before the batteries die?
how can i hook this up to use as my webcam mic. I dont have the disk anymore, my dad lost it

@Shadowkirby007 Not sure. I record voice interviews and don't use it to record music, but you might try the Sony site for specs on its range.

I bought a recorder of this type (ICD-PX720) and after 5 months no longer works. Is defective.
Command keys:
Play, rec, menu and others do not.
In Rio de Janeiro (RJ) can not find a technical assistance for this product
I am very angry, frustrated and disappointed with the Sony brand.

@owings64 That's a shame. How do you think it'll work at concerts with quieter crowds; you know, like orchestra or choir concerts?

Sony ICD-SX700, will recharge the AAA batteries via USB when connected, while the Olympus will not. Who got their asses kicked?

nobody sells that model anymore.. the 720 sells for 35-45 dollars...
What ? you expected it to be 20 dollars ? like the Olympus Pearlcorder S701 ?
Or DS-40? which records the same amount of hours for a whopping $116...
