  • In the 80s, I used to go over to my friend's house just so I can play Yie Ar Kung Fu on his commodore. He'd watch me play for a while and then leave me alone until I hadda leave. hehe..

    some friend I was..

  • Great vid but Double Dragon and Final Fight

on the commodore sadly sucked ass as did

a lot of coin op conversions on the c64 did.

the few exceptions i can think of right now

is the amazing shinobi port and the equal

    excellent conversion of operation wolf.

  • Oh yes. Many of them lacked the spark of the arcade. The trade-off of bringing games to the C64's 8-bit system.

  • The C64 had great graphics for an 8-bit computer. So much better than the Spectrum, at least. The Final Fight version looks great.

    Really good reel :D.

  • Thanks :)

Yeah I think the key to the C64's success was that it was a versatile machine for its time. And cheap!

Final Fight wasn't bad but Double Dragon was a more polished release. Of all those games I featured, I would have to say IK+ is my favourite purely because I can jump into it at any time and have a pretty decent shot. I don't like games where you get wiped out too easily, because it doesn't encourage developing "skill" at it.

  • I think you mean The SNES version that sucked there actully was an NES version but it kicked ass.

  • Yeah i noticed the fast speed lol i can't belive the C 64 Got a final fight.

  • Yeah, back in the old days, the C64 was one of the main machines to get coin-op-conversions. There would be versions for Atari 2600, Apple //e, Spectrum, NES, and even IBM "Compatible". Oh and the Amiga, once that came out. I better not forget Sega's many machines too.

The C64 Final Fight is better than the NES one, as the sexy looking Poison and Roxy weren't censored (and turned into skinny male punks called Sid and Billy).

  • LOL Good video but i would have liked to see the video with the whole song but this is pretty freaking good Great job.

  • Thanks. Yeah, using the whole song would have worked, but I would have had to source a few more clips... not a huge problem I guess, but everything in this one is playing at double speed, would have been too slow for the song really. Also I was mindful of download speeds. Sometimes, less is more. ;)
