My favorite version of the song and always my favorite guitar solo starting at about 1:04 and he does the whole thing while having fun performing live. I mean just look at what he does at 1:25 to 1:26 folks LIVE, those are perfect 1/64th notes because he plays 32 notes in two beats having fun, jumping around playing live! His fingers just knock them out with perfection like it was nothing an no pressure to do it flawlessly live. Reed really was the Guitar Man that the King of Rock sang about.
Reed was one of the regular country guests on Solid Gold. These were great times. He alsways had a special chemistry with those outside of country music, maybe he was given a little more credability given his acting career. Or maybe it was just cool to hang out with Jerry Reed! I think that was probably it!
Thank you thank you mccoofan for giving us back this marvelous moment from our past, because it is exhirlating to see two such disparate artists willingly step so far outside their boundaries to take such a risk on this collaboration. The result is history: talent rules!!
WOW! I LOVED the Solid Gold dancers back in the day, and I've been mad about Marilyn McCoo since I was like twelve..."When the moooooooon.........."; she has one of the most magical voices I've ever heard. But if you'd told me she did this (great) song with Jerry Reed I'd have told you you were nuts. So far from her known style, yet she ripped it! And Jerry's virtuoso guitar work to boot. This video makes me feel joyful; it's maybe the best feel-good thing I've ever seen on youtube.
"Country-fried Marilyn" --- who'd-a thunk it? :-D That has to be one of the reasons she stayed with the Solid Gold gig for so long, the chance to "stretch" and do "unexpected" things (at least, for her). Excellent guitar solo by Jerry, too!
IS SHE HALF NIG?

This then-improbable pairing of Jerry Reed & Marilyn McCoo pairing wouldn't be unusual whatsoever in today's music climate.
