Hi Reveling, I am getting there with this song. I've watched Janis Ian play this many times. She makes it look effortless, almost like water, so fluid! Nice song, you can feel where she is coming from. That is why we pick up a guitar. It is a vehicle to express our innermost emotions. Like wearing your heart on your sleeve. x

Love this song and have been listening to many versions. It was obvious you were distracted and the interpretation suffered. Have you seen Celine Dions version taped at the Grammy nominations. Sorry, I don't believe you have the hurt inside you, to sing this song. Guitar playing is good, however, it lacks as well the expression, which can only come from the heart, of someone who has had it repeatedly broken. To put it more into perspective, it takes one, to know one..

@Molin525 Thanks for commenting. I can see where you are coming from, but I think what you are deciphering as "lack of expression" is actually me concentrating so hard to play this song correctly. To put it more into perspective....I admittedly bit off way more than I could chew at the time I chose to upload this video (2 1/2 years ago!!). I cringe a bit when I hear it now, as I have improved quite a bit with my playing. This song is very close to my heart....

It is one of my favorite songs, and seeing someone as Beautiful as you sing it, well it just didn't seem to work for me. It takes me about two months to get this tune out of my head everytime a re run of the Old Grey Whistle Test comes on TV, so here I was, avoiding Janis Ian, when your Strums and Sorrows brought me here! The song is not necessarily about physically unattractive people, it talks of those lacking social graces also, so really anyone can sing the song. Though Reverie may not be physically unattractive to all, we surely do not know what she is like if one were to know her, she could be insensitive, rude or just a plain bitch. I am sure there are lots of people generally considered "talented" that most would not enjoy the company of........
