ohh ... maybe you don't have the right wire that goes from the amp to the speakers or the speakers you're using are blown ... in my opinion start with replacing the wires and then pass to the speakers :)

sorry for the double post. My suggestion would be to always leave it in standby, you know with the orange light lit, As mine failed after turning the standby off and it never turned on again! Too bad, because its one of the most bad ass receivers ever...so clean

It is called "high-current".. I wonder what amperage it uses. In fact, I wonder about the amperage rating on all high-current amps, because you can only get 1575 watts and 15 amperes from a standard wall socket, and that HK of yours is rated at 25 amperes of HICC
ur marantz is a pretty good receiver but its kind of unfair 2 compare that 2 the avr 146. maybe the 254 but not this. however it does not come close to the 354.
I'm considering the AVR 146, as it has more than enough inputs for me, I don't think ill ever need a 7.1 system, its just too much shit. I'm also considering going with Klipsch speakers, cause they fucking rule.
bose speakers i think that are too small for this receiver ... i think you should buy something like JBL for the front speakers trust me i saw what bose speakers can do ... if you want to buy a bigger receiver you should take the avr-145 it has 40 watts x 5 and it also has 50 watts in stereo mode ... that's if you want something bigger (that's because i had the avr-145 and it rocks :D)
As long as you have the sub connected it will be fine. This receiver isn't super powerful. I used to run a set of Bose 301's with the rest of the lifestyle series speakers off of my old 345 before I upgraded to a H/K AVR-745.
this receiver (H/K) is the best of best.The bass is awsome (frequency response 10 hz - 130 khz.Before i had a logitech z-5500 and i can tell you that you can't compare both.You will be amazed about H/K.Make some videos when you gonna have it 'cause i wanna see it in action :D !! Cheers !!
I like Marantz because they r more reliable. I had the Harman Kardon AVR500 a long time ago (70 watts X 5 /45 amps of HICC)and it sounded awesome when it was working, but had many problems with channels not working & popping noises. Resident Evil/Jurassic Park was amazing, I turned the volume higher and higher on my 200 watt towers and the high-current muscle just shook the whole house like an earthquake.Awesome! waiting for HK to make an amp with Dolby TRUE HD for blue ray..ROCK THE HOUSE!
it can go up to + 10 db :D and btw the mic of the camera sucks ant that's why you think that isn't too loud and I have just 2 very old 80's pioneer speakers connected (not the 2 pioneer woofers)
Volume at zero guarantees no distortion, once you go into the + volumes there will be more THD%. Hey jsut wanted to let you know that I opened up my amp and found a reset button on the power supply, reset it, and it works, my brothers works too now.
Man I was so happy.. I mean, It stopped working and 20 minutes later im looking at some Onkyos, but I decided to try to fix it and I knew that I wouldn'e be entirely happy knowing I had a HK prior to the Onkyo!

@melenmike it only has 55 watts rms but it got 25 amps so the amperage is probably higher than your marantz ... that's why . :)
