all i get is white noise and silence? but now i've been deprived i want it more! i want to rate your effort. particularly how you approach the 6th bits. are you thumb and fingers, just fingers or a combination of the two depending on which strings you're playing. cos i can't decide which is best. on the record the level of attack sounds like all fingers but rhythmicallly it seems to require a thumb here and there.
very cool, I know a simplified verson thats been passed down though various people... thought it was written by davey graham though and performed by the leg-end that is bert jansch? Thanks for this vid will help me to learn better!
Thanks for pointing that out. You are right and I need to correct the video for that and generally clean up the song as there are various bits missing. Ive never heard the original Davey Graham version. I heard this from a friend and learnt it that way, but prefer Paul Simons clinically clean version of it.
It sounds nice as is. I wouldn't stress too much about missing sections. The joy of this song is that you can play around with and adapt it whilst still keeping the essence of it. I play it with bits that I've made up and other bits from lots of other versions and then I just order them how I feel at the time.
Paul Simon's version is a lot closer to Davey's than Bert's.
i m japanese ..what song is this?anji?

@olemangit thanks for commenting: Youtube deleted the sound track so I had to re-record it. Please see my site for a live recorded version.

I'm working this out at the moment and a capo on the 4th fret is the correct tuning, the reduced tension also facilitates.

I thought it was the second fret, originally.
I may be wrong.

Sounds good. I also like Derek Brimstone playing this and the Gordon Giltrap reworking entitled 'angelina'

Thank you spagbat, I was hoping someone would mention the writing credit error.
Saw Davey Graham in L'pool a couple of years ago- is it true that he went to the great gig in the sky last year?

Anji (Angie) was written by Davey Graham. Bert Jansch covered it because he was a big fan (I think he had also had lessons off Davey for a while)
Nice cover of a great song.
