have heard lots of versions of this tune here on the tube over the last 2 years but your rendition is simply breathtaking ! Thank you so much for the decision to record and to share this. I liked this a hell of a lot. I do like it sung with more heft and power but with emotional depth. This makes the mark and more. Singing it more softly can sure be more prayer like, but Cohen himself gave it a sturdy rendition most times. And let's not forget that many hymns of many churches have ROUSING numbers which does not mean they are devoid in sentiment or devotion.

This is one of my favourite covers. A wonderful voice. But please can I point out that what Leonard actually wrote was "Is how to shoot at someone who outdrew you". That 'at' is important. Leonard never suggested you can actually shoot someone who outdraws you -- that would be crazy. All he learnt from love was how to get a shot off at all, as a futile dying gesture. This mistake is being spread as people singing covers follow earlier covers instead of going back to Leonard's original.
