@TheFernando0311 hey, 100.000 % right !!!!!!!!!!!! i´m cryin´and reapeatin´only that part .... when pearl jam plays that song it´s totally without that jazz /melancholy kind of divorce/suicide feeling, atmosphere
do ya ever wonder what pearl jam woulda sounded like with andy as the frontman....or maybe there wouldn't have been pearl jam without stone gossard and jeff ament. by the way have been jammin mlb since 89 n still rockin it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First Andrew passed, then Mia Zappata, the Kurt and finally Layne. I'm sorry if someone else passed I forgot to mention. Unfortunately some of the most brilliant minds are the most self destructive, with the exception of Mia of course.
Spread the word of new good grunge bands, Violent Soho, Pet Salad, Sick Sick Sister, The Chocolate, Paradox, Pissed Jeans, and Cage the Elephant (who totally sound like they could fit in with the 90s alternative thing). Oh, and that one SMB Project song totally sounds like Smashing Pumpkins, I keep meaning to check out more from them as well.
That was such an awesome documentary ... funny how we all go out searching the songs ... Andy left a little piece of himself for us all to enjoy and remember him by.
Is the Chloe Dancer part about a stripper? Because, I would REALLY like to know. I'm named after this song and I'm PRETTY SURE it's about a stripper but I want a second opinion haha
@Clolo1316 No, I think it's about a girl Andy met in a bar, in which he had a relationship for some time until they needed to separate; the second part of the song is about meeting her again a few years down the road, still as friends and moving past the relationship.
@Clolo1316 No Chloe is an `alter ego` of Andy`s love and fiance Xana La Fuente. A fantastic woman and a person who was with Andy until the end. You can hear her mentioned in another song Bone China where Andy sings `Oh Xana come back again`. You can be proud to have such a name. Xana is a role model, believe me.
Actually, "Oh, Xana come back again" is from "Stargazer". Incidentally, the line he sings before that, "dream of me and Julie Ann", if I remember correctly, is in reference to a stuffed animal he used to masturbate with. Not kidding.
@Fakename70 No idea what or who Julie Ann would be. Possibly a name for a child he wanted to have. Yes the line is from Stargazer (Tho Bone China is again about Xana, so is Gentle groove and Until the ocean even if Xana is not mentioned). But the bottom line is you are named after a fine woman and a legend in Seattle. :)
I'd say it's about as "important" as you going on and on about which female names mentioned in Andy's lyrics are pet names for Xana. Just as you figured some fans might really want to know that info, I'm sure there are some just as curious as to who "Julie Ann" is. Especially since both "Julie Ann" and Xana are mentioned in the same song. The only reason I even bothered to comment at all 5 days ago is because you gave some incorrect info 3 weeks ago in response to Clolo1316.
@Fakename70 I wrongly provided the name of the song. It would be enough to correct me. I responded to Clolo1316 because she was asking about her name. xxx

@stubhytime I like GNR, but Andrew Wood outsings Axl Rose by a mile. Such an achingly beautiful song. The line "A dream like this must die" is one of the saddest lyrics ever, for Andy and for what means to those of us who love the song
@badgernation74 oh hell yeah man 100% agree....this is one of the most moving songs of all time. and no doubt andy out sings axle!!! but the first time i ever heard mother love bone i made the connection rose and robinson at certain parts of the song and that makes wood a remarkable singer....long live andy wood!!
You know, what I think gets by alot of people cause it is so closely tied to the grunge period of time, is that this at the time (and to me was considered a hairband) and a underground band that was incredible... but was a hairband from Seattle. People loved this guy though and thought he was ready to hit it big, being that in 89' 90' Hairbands were still in their end of their popularity. Mother Love Bone is very flamboyant, and not a name you'd likely hear from the more "grunge" bands.
aaaaaaah !!!!! the memories ! paramount theater - moore theater - rock candy / Sound Garden - grunt truck - mud honey - melvins - nirvana - slam suzzane ( just to name a few ) - the sub pop label artists....... those were good times and a great time to be around the music scene. I discovered that track back when i was a teen watching Headbangers Ball. It was the show's signature tune. I've just found out it was by Mother Love Bone. I've been searching for a long time whose song it might be and i'm glad i've finally found out. I owe it to Pearl Jam for having covered that song live which is featured on the forthcoming soundtrack of Twenty,a documentary on the band.

This is the kind of music that will hurt your feelings & take your breath away with all the memories it invokes.... (gulp)... No matter how old you get to be...
I ask people if they know of any good dreamy psychedelic music and they said a bunch of bands that were not in the least bit psychedelic and somehow didn't mention this band. I had to find this band after years of looking for this kind of music What's wrong with people.
I HAVE SOME GOOD NEWS I was looking at itunes rock charts They have an album that was just released on july 19 called " melodies& Dreams"- Andrew Wood But here is the bad news the sound quality is crappy and andy Doesnt sound very good due to the quality. But When I was Previewing the album I found a good couple of songs, "MY Star" To Praise it's Name" and the people review the album saying they didnt know who he was, weLL thats dumb CUZ IM FUCKING 14 AND KNOW WHO HE WAS! LOL
'91-'92 in Brooklyn, NY. With best friends Gab, Kirbs, & Steve. These were great times. Dreams like this must die...but this music will live forever. Great post.
My brother an me used to listen to this before he died!! This was the song we would chill out listning to!! Love you my big brother for ever and always!!!!
What an amazing intro. Too bad Andrew Wood`s life was cut short. He looked to have a promising music career. The grim reaper hasn`t been kind to grunge frontmen.
This song reminds me of when my late fiance and I first started dating, she passed back in April and I loved her more then anything I ever have in my life. She was 40, and me 22, but we had a great apreciation for good music. She loved this song, she actualy named her first daughter Chloe from insperation from this song. I will never stop loving her, even if i live to be 100. Forever in my heart, love you Jennifer
I was turning into my early teens when this band changed my life forever. I am a practicing musician and this manmy hero! Andrew+"MLB" brought grunge on & inspired the seattle scene "Grunge" movement; the soundtrack of my generation! You are a true Stardog Champion bro-living what you sang about: us artists of the afflicted variety pay for our fame in blood as you, Layne, Kurt, and all the others did.You lived what you were singing about as did the others in the Grunge era & thats what I miss

I was born in '78 and grew up listening to 80s and early 90s music. When the grunge bands hit in the early 90s it was like a breath of fresh air. Suddenly all these awesome alt rock bands were getting mainstream attention. The thing is, at the time I thought the popular music scene would always be like this. Never though for a second this music would fade away and be replaced on the airwaves by pop and rap. The second half of the 90s was when popular music went downhill quickly.
@Sammyzuko I was born in '92, and when I was little in the mid/late 90's, I remember the last bit of that whole scene, and I thought life was just like that because I couldn't comprehend how decades were different, and I remember around 98/99 it started to change and got all glossy, and I was confused and thought it was a glitch in life because I thought life would always be like that, all alternative and guys with long hair, and then 2000 came and it was bigger than ever. I miss that 90's vibe.
@Sammyzuko yeah it sucks i was born in 96 so i missed the whole damn grunge era. I hope grunge makes a comeback. i hate all of the pop and rap "music" (if thats what you wanna call it) If you know how to work a computer to do all of the instuments and change your voice for you with autotune. You considered talented. that why i listen to 90s and 60s rock all of the bands i like acutally wrote their own songs and learned the insturments and didnt autotune their voice. autotune should not exist.
@Atimo133 As long as rock and metal have to FIGHT for its existence, they will remain in their true form! Neither rock nor metal will ever die. Thats the fact you can't deny :)
i don't even know who's rihanna or bruno mars. thats the way to go.
real music doesn't need to come back, cause it didn't go anywhere - it's still in our ears, in our minds and in our hearts! the true music with soul and balls that rocked 20 or even more years ago is still within your soul, just don't let anything dim it, and spread the music to other people :_)
L'Andrew we love and miss you to no end. We still see you sitting in the Central in the corner.

@csmzcs They are two songs, but they're sequenced together. This is how they were meant to be listened to.

I ask people if they know of any good dreamy psychedelic music and they said a bunch of bands that were not in the least bit psychedelic and somehow didn't mention this band. I had to find this band after years of looking for this kind of music What's wrong with people.

KristinNirvana 7 months ago 2
@Sammyzuko yeah it sucks i was born in 96 so i missed the whole damn grunge era. I hope grunge makes a comeback. i hate all of the pop and rap "music" (if thats what you wanna call it) If you know how to work a computer to do all of the instuments and change your voice for you with autotune. You considered talented. that why i listen to 90s and 60s rock all of the bands i like acutally wrote their own songs and learned the insturments and didnt autotune their voice. autotune should not exist.
kozmicblues14 5 months ago
@Sammyzuko I have to grow up with fuckin' bruno mars and other mainstream " music "
in 10 or 20 years there won't be any rock, metal, punk music and so on ....
commercial music sucks ... =(
Atimo133 4 months ago
@Atimo133 As long as rock and metal have to FIGHT for its existence, they will remain in their true form! Neither rock nor metal will ever die. Thats the fact you can't deny :)

Real music has got to come back !!!!!
Atimo133 4 months ago
@Atimo133
i don't even know who's rihanna or bruno mars. thats the way to go.
real music doesn't need to come back, cause it didn't go anywhere - it's still in our ears, in our minds and in our hearts! the true music with soul and balls that rocked 20 or even more years ago is still within your soul, just don't let anything dim it, and spread the music to other people :_)
