Great video and my old ship HMS Palliser in dry dock. I served on her in from May 1961 to Oct 1962 and she was my first ship after training. I was then 17. She was part of the then Fishery Protection Squadron. It broght back many memories.
Great thing about youtube: people take time out to post great things like this... 1964 I was only 1...but I'm ex-RN and was based in Rosyth (FOSNI) in 86-87...lived in Cochrane for a couple of months before I 'moved out' and got my own place! Great memories of Rosyth/Dunfermline - and Edinburgh nearby.. Thanks!
Thanks for posting - I used to go to the open days at that time.
It was great to get inside the ships. It was even better if you knew that the gun turrets had manual controls which were easily located and operated ..... The navy were not amused!
I enjoyed watching that as a piece of history that I was connected with, as my father was RN for 22 years and based in Rosyth,(where I was born). There are surely many websites for political posturing where certain comments would be more appropriate. Thanks for the post.
Well, as a taxpayer, the less ships the better. The UK is after all a redundant military power so needs no navy except for coastal waters. Most of the freight ships are foreign owned now and can be protected by those.

We could only have a redundant nuclear submarine day now. I was in Rosyth navy day in either 69/70, with Cochrane SCC.

Great piece of history. The Type 14 frigate in drydock - F94 - is HMS Palliser
