  • John R. Christy has been accused of recanting his position that climate change is neither Anthropogenic nor Catastrophic, but he didn’t. He used two independent data sets, weather balloon and satellite for his findings. (see links in my about me) Later he only stated that there was some anthropogenic impact that could not be predicted 100 years out, but that what we’re doing was good for the plants.

  • 1 /2 Obama stop offshore drilling until it was reinstated. This could cause a $5 a gallon increase, because we would grow dependent upon foreign nations we are not allies with in order to provide our oil. Cap and Trade (American Power Act) would increase gas prices increase by $2.58 a gallon according to George C. Marshall Institute& taxes on the average household up to $3200 according to the RNC Foreign countries price gouge w/ gas prices to $10/gal!.

  • You can create your own designs of wind turbine especially for those who have creative minds that would like to experiment in different arrangements. The design in this video is very realistic. Very artistic yet functional.

  • hey nice wind turban

  • is that a wheel of a wheel chair??? lol GREAT... I love people recycling ideas!! c my video for stator ideas

  • You're a Joe Genius!

  • Wow, Great video.

Will you take a look at my list of DIY Renewable Energy courses at IMECOFARM com.

We have a 3 day build a wind turbine course ! Thanks Eddie

  • I live in a fairly windy place. Could a similar turban device power up batteries for a homemade converted electric car? Now, if you are not sure how to answer that question, what is a kilowatt and how many kilowatts could conceivably be produced by your machine on an average windy day (24 hours), where you live?

  • I saw an Australian windmill that had added several car alternators to charge batteries and power the home. and that was long before anyone was talking about going green. So .. the point is it can be done.

The guy also had a bicycle powered generator hooked up to his TV, no pumping no viewing.

  • Just remember that " kilowattin' " is a figure of speech.

  • No way this thing puts out a kilowatt. Maybe a watt, but that may be generous

  • @Porterjebazillanator Maybe you don't understand it is the "turbin," with those special wheelchair "barins," that makes it so efficient.

  • Hey, I think your efforts are great, but Kilowatt my ass!

  • you need to get a controller to control the electricity leading to the batteries that you need. (car batteries or some other large battery) you need a dummy load for the electricity to go to when the battery is full. the controller will distribute the electricity going in. now you need something for it going out. (I can't quite remember what it's called) but it should either have outlet plugs on it, or it will have wires coming out. you can lead these to your power box, but you will need

  • Inverter

  • thanks

  • Nice job, so it's a car alternator hooked up to an inverter that you could buy at any auto parts store.

  • very nice ... GOOD JOB

  • Nice

  • Thank you.

  • check out my wind power vids...

  • In Mongolia these are a common sight in the country side.Nearly every yurt tent has a neat little wind turbine that powers a TV, DVD player and electric bulbs. Those even look more simple than the one you have made.Maybe China build the Mongolian ones - they must be really cheap in order that poor nomad families can afford them.

  • wow, great work. it does generate electricity, doesn't it?

if, have you found a way to plug the electricity in the common network and how (if)?

  • I have a similar setup on my house. I used car alternators as my generators and ran the wiring from the alternators through a power inverter available at your local wal-mart. The inverter converts the electricity from 12-volt automotive current into standard household current. Then I ran household 3-wire from the inverter into my fuse box

You just have to remember to shut that fuse off if you want to do any work on your household wiring :)

  • How do you stop the house from powering your altenator like a motor ? I'm assuming that can happen, I'm terrible at electrics.

  • well, the alternator is a generator. it only produces power through the brushes spinning inside it, which is only caused by the pulley wheel on the end spinning. that's why if you go out to your car and turn your key to 'on' your alternator won't spin. (you can even disconnect the belt if you want, and it still won't spin). but if you start the car, the revolutions of the engine turn the pulley on the alternator, generating the electricity that runs your windows, radio, etc

    hope this helps!

  • Actually it is most likely because your typical alternator has diodes inside.

  • Many thanks for your post. I want to know how exactly to wire into my fuse box. Can you tell me or tell me a source for this information? Thank you, Mike

  • Comment removed

  • OH! I almost forgot, you should also alert your power company that you have a supplemental power generator so they can have you disconnect it if they're doing work on your utility lines.

  • Kilowatt peak or kilowatt average?

  • I love guys like you that DO something, rather than talk about what they are THINKING of doing...A+

  • I do to, amend,A+++++++++++++++++++++++

  • @koontzman123 hes the man... nice momment...

  • I love guys like you that DO something, rather than talk about what they are THINKING of doing...A+

  • Nice idea with the fin on the back.

  • very cool

  • thuggin

  • Nice rig Timbo. My woamn and I have a bunch of pinwheels and windchimes around my house.

I am thinking about building a vertal axis turbin and couple it directly to a car alternator and have it power some headlights. I live near one of the largest wind farms in the world so this stuff is interesting.

  • Yep your right. And, Wind Theft, I like that one. In Australia its sort of like water theft from a river where irrigators "up" the river take most of the water ... Thanks from Steve. I did kaugh though and do not knock wind generated electricity. I think its a good idea.

  • True - in Africa making a line of small stones changed environments in a big way (stops soil erosion).

A line of trees or wind turbines leaves calm air the other side (ask a yachtsman) - people could end up steeling your wind - wind theft.

  • Excuse me for thinking. But if we get thousands (maybe hundreds of millions) of wind turbines up and running all over the planet (especially in windy areas, are we not going to change the weather patterns. I mean, we are moving energy from the atmosphere and converting it to another form of energy. The energy is not destroyed, its simlpy moved. So, if we move billions upon billlions of units of energy from the weather system, don't you think that will change the weather?

  • It's less resistance than a tree and nobody's saying to stop planting trees....

  • Nah, then trees and forrests would change wind patterns too. Then I'd guess that authorities would do research about it before allowing the companies to build their turbines.

  • good job! it looks pretty!

  • Great job! I've been thinking of making one of my own.

  • Great work timbo. It is a real work of art and does what it is intended to do.

Keep up the good work. Dont mind the comments of guys who do not understand your intent here.

  • That's a nice BIG machine to run 1 LED.

    (1,6Volts x 20mA = 32miliWatt) 0,032 Watt. 0,000032 kiloWatt :-)

So you need to build 1/0,000032 = 31250 of those machines to get 1 kiloWatt.

  • Kilowatt must be a word he heard on final jeopardy

  • Nice work :)

It's good to see many people from all over the world try their hand at wind power.

I would next try making a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) if I was you. The ones I like are the helix, the lenz turbine, the darrius and the tesnic. They are not as efficient as the conventional type but they work better in more turbulent conditions. I.e. You can mount them lower.

  • Cool, I've always wanted to make a wind turbine.

  • My two year old loves your turbine, Timbo.

  • Thank you! Thats the best comment ever!!

  • Wind power is becoming a hobby for me. I'm almost to the construction phase. I'm researching now. If it doesn't power the whole state of Texas, so what? I'll be having fun and making electricity!

I've got a slew of magnets coming to me next week for a new generator idea I've got in my head. =)

  • Referring to magnets, and turbines, ... I like the P.M.G. This is a 3 phase AC Permanent Magnet Generator. You have to convert the AC to DC. (Two bridge rectifiers will convert AC 3 phase to DC. I got some for less than five bucks, but in most old computers there is one you can just break off the mother board. Look for "+ ~~ -" and it will have 4 wires.)

  • wow, if this thing produces a kilowatt, I better go back and check to see how many Gigawatttts my bicycle alternator is producing !

  • I realize that the wind turbine does not produce energy in the kilowatt range. The term kilowatt used in this video is in fact " kilowatt'n ". Kilowatt'n can be defined as: A device in which is currently producing electrical energy. Source--> New Red Neck Dictionary. &copy Timothy Stringfellow

  • oh, I'm definitely going to start using that one! LOL!

  • My passionate dream is to build my own one of these and it is becoming real thanks to Steve Irwins 'can do anything with love' approach I founded onedollarcarboncredits dot com to initiate such a wind farm project. Start small with one and build a few, it takes many drops to fill a bucket.

  • 1 kw. Seriously though, is this measured correctly? How much energy do you actually get out of it?

Also, lots of people stress the fact that the windmill needs to be situated high, real high.

  • The hight factor is to tap wind that's moving freely. When wind hits trees, it deflects and slows down. Slow wind = less energy. If you live in a plain with lots of wind blowing around you, there's not much use in getting it up high. You just want to get it away from buildings and such that would block your breeze.

  • I love the speed it runs at. Great work. What I want to see is a bigger version of it. Keep the videos coming.

  • you better raise it or your going to kill anyone.but nice

  • How much money does it save you?

  • So what did he use to actually generate the electricity? Was there some kind of bicycle dynamo, a homebuilt jobby, or or a store bought generator?

  • It has a 12 volt D.C. brush motor.

  • very cool idea using the hub from the bike wheel.

  • Very Nice! Can't wait to see the larger one!

  • I turned on the LED last night at 8:00. This morning it was still going. This is good because last night there was no wind. I used some of the energy stored in the battery.
