@GazIsARM You definitely don't want to do that! The white lithium grease will cause you to lose air seal on the piston head... Stick to the silicone gel for best results. Some people use a heavy-weight silicone oil, but we prefer the gel.
My V3 gearbox makes problems....when i want to reassemble it, the cylinder will pop out as soon as i put tension on the spring...
And i cant really hold it down, while also trying to hold down the Anti Reversal latch and the Trigger (i cant put it in later woithout popping out the ARL again -.-)
i remember opening up my friends JLS SCAR. it was the ugliest, lowest quality gearbox i had ever seen. that was tokyo marui compatable that is(LPEGs are worse). there is clear plastic where there should be metal, excessive amounts of grease, etc did you know the spring is attached to the piston with a screw!? so to replace the spring you need a new piston, or vise versa
btw bushings are different from bearings, thought they serve the same purpose
Also, when shimming you don't really need the anti-reversal latch or the trigger installed - they only complicate closing-opening the box (but don't forget to install them afterwards) when shimming takes a few times. Other than that, good guide!
My tappet plate keeps on bending and not being pulled back. Does anyone have any ideas. I bought an new SRC M4A1 but i fired 20 rounds then it stoped. I opend it up to see what is going on and i think that the tappet plate is too weak, or the spring on the tappet plate is too strong, does anyone have any ideas?
no usually they are 6mm bushings but just measure it out and see ...but there can be 7mm and also 8mm and sometimes 9mm bushing/bearing in the mechbox's mine has 6mm...but it is better to get bigger mechbox with bigger bushing because of the wear and tear of the gear that will have on the bushings/bearings!
good vid, i followed instruction to upgrade my first classic army m15a4, i just lubed gears, and spring, reshimmed, and added 8mm bearings. i was lost and you helped! now i do it as a side job :)
What would happen if i just used white lith grease for everything piston head piston cyclnder and the x rings?

why the piston and the other gears dun need grease?
atomicatomu 2 years ago
because the piston comes back to turn the gears so u would need to lube it u want it to shoot buttery smooth

what does he mean by lubricant gel. I know he uses white lithium and silicon gel but which one is it.
manofthehour91 2 years ago
Lube gel in this case is the silicon gel. I usually refer to any of the gear lube as "grease" vs. gel. -6mm

In this example, they're standard 6mm
