Gervais has never failed to impress ever since the 11 o'clock show (we'll forget about the Diana concert, the whole thing was shit), i love his honest approach to comedy and people who dislike him for it because he comes across as arrogant should keep quiet cos they talk crap. I dno why all there is all this talk about Bill Hicks but he is also a comedy genius and you dnt even have to be that clever to understand him, although it helps. I would have loved to have been living whilst Hicks was.
Bill Hicks is a massice influence on alot of modern stand ups, the reason people were "hanging" on his everyword was because they were enjoying it. The only problem with Hicks is alot of his comedy is dated now meaning its very hard for younger people it get into Hicks ( though thats hardly his fault being that hes dead )
Within his jokes is a perennial wisdom in addition to the numerous political and behavioral 'fluke' references, that are still very much a valid observation of the current sociopolitical / cultural upheaval as they were when first stated.

Some of Hicks' stuff is funny, most of it though is not. Goat Boy for example, that is just ridiculous and the audience hanging and laughing on his every word. Rubbish. His stuff on the LA riots that opens the Arizona Bay disc, actually the whole of that disc really, is fucking inspired comedy. The Rant in E-Minor disc is even more full of weird shit and some nasty yet funny as fuck stuff, thrown together from his last shows. Essentially he's undoubtably one of the greatest comedians to be recognised.

tiarnan76, Bill Hicks is my favourite comedian and (imo) the greatest of all time. But Gervais is brilliant, everything he's ever done has been great. Gervais has NEVER done a commercial for anything but his own products... personally i think Bill would've loved him.
If you could even comprehend his comedy and the intelligence behind it you might understand how brilliant he is. There's a lot more to it than meets the eye. Try by looking up his site and actually reading into it, instead of just watching a few things and judging without knowing.

Imo, the people who find Evans humour funny are neandothalic idiots. I am qualified to judge those who do, anybody is, the same way you can call me a wanker, knob or a prick (all penis related insults i noticed btw). I do have the 'balls' (another one) to go on stage actually.

btw lee Evans isn't witty. or atleast he doesn't portray this. Maybe he dumbs his actual wit down to appeal to the legion of morons who buy his tickets. I know lots of people who like Lee Evans but imo they are of a much lower intelligence, this doesn't mean they are lesser people but to me it does mean that Lee Evans sucks as his humour doesn't even make me smile when I have for various reasons had to endure one of his jokes or cameos. You should calm the language down by the way imo. You twat.

they are both performers at the top of their game in two completely different branches of comedy. Gervais does intelligence, wit and culture with an observational slant, whilst Evans does monkey-man sketches with silly voices, costumes and arm-waving. They're both funny to their own audiences, who again are typically very different. I don't think there was any need for all the penis jokes, everyone's entitled to an opinion here.

Gervais has never failed to impress ever since the 11 o'clock show (we'll forget about the Diana concert, the whole thing was shit), i love his honest approach to comedy and people who dislike him for it because he comes across as arrogant should keep quiet cos they talk crap. I dno why all there is all this talk about Bill Hicks but he is also a comedy genius and you dnt even have to be that clever to understand him, although it helps. I would have loved to have been living whilst Hicks was.

Bill Hicks is a massice influence on alot of modern stand ups, the reason people were "hanging" on his everyword was because they were enjoying it. The only problem with Hicks is alot of his comedy is dated now meaning its very hard for younger people it get into Hicks ( though thats hardly his fault being that hes dead )

Within his jokes is a perennial wisdom in addition to the numerous political and behavioral 'fluke' references, that are still very much a valid observation of the current sociopolitical / cultural upheaval as they were when first stated.

Some of Hicks' stuff is funny, most of it though is not. Goat Boy for example, that is just ridiculous and the audience hanging and laughing on his every word. Rubbish. There are plenty of wanky twats, usually students that say they like Hicks because they perceive it gives them an air of superiority over others where in fact, if they they were honest they don't understand what he is on about and or don't find him funny.

He was a fine comedian who held a lot of views that don't generally get much airtime. His stuff on the LA riots that opens the Arizona Bay disc, actually the whole of that disc really, is fucking inspired comedy. The Rant in E-Minor disc is even more full of weird shit and some nasty yet funny as fuck stuff, thrown together from his last shows. Essentially he's undoubtably one of the greatest comedians to be recognised.

tiarnan76, Bill Hicks is my favourite comedian and (imo) the greatest of all time. But Gervais is brilliant, everything he's ever done has been great. Gervais has NEVER done a commercial for anything but his own products... personally i think Bill would've loved him.

If you could even comprehend his comedy and the intelligence behind it you might understand how brilliant he is. There's a lot more to it than meets the eye. Try by looking up his site and actually reading into it, instead of just watching a few things and judging without knowing.
