@sonicromer yeah the music and sound in this game was duff - the game was stuffed into a 8mb cartridge. The smallest n64 cart available. But the gameplay was excellent.

bizarrely the rain wheather effect actually used more fogging than the fog wheather effect. racing in fog was far easier than the rain. btw the milk float is better than the porsche on jungle and desert.

No not really. The cars handle and perform quite realistically but these are no way the best graphics. I think perfect dark or battle for naboo has some of the best graphics for the N64.

I remember playing this Gem when I was a little kid with Vengaboys or Aqua playing in the background. Those guys were big back then so it makes sense to hear them while playing. :) Try muting the audio of this video and playing a Vengaboys or Aqua or any old skool techno song! Oh my god, the memories!

Jeez, I remember this game. It was fun but what a pain in the ass. It was one of the first racing games I played that you had to be consistent with the driving. You couldn't shit show it like with say Gran Turismo. If you fucked up, you were almost destined not to have enough track/laps left to catch number 1.

Bah, Reverse and Mirrored Jungle stage. You can change the difficulty ?? I doubt that, I have the game, it's super easy I get it on Manual and Bumper view doesn't even show you the gauge l0l0l just know all the shortcuts and turns..the Desert shortcut is AWESOME !!

There is no difficulty setting. The names of the seasons are Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, Professional and Expert. Expert is simply the name of the sixth season.

Oh I forgot. I hate using bumper view that you can't see nothing. But this game actually used a Hood view, but while using the Hood view there's no gauge, just the mph :D classic game

yeah, Top Gear Rally! great game, still playing it from time to time.

I used to create my own championship by letting all 13 cars drive every track + mirrors in every weather (parted in spring, summer, fall, winter and night) and writing down the best of 3 laps of each single one. unfortunately it never finished, and now i don't know how to get all the tracks and cars again. :( would really love to finish it one of these days...

This was a classic for its time,... and surely enough,.. it has aged far better than most games,.. the thing with the N64 was that the graphics redefined what was possible with anti aliasing,... this feature enabled the machine to produce a much smoother, rounded look that many unfairly describe as blurry. For instance, look at early PS2 racing games,... look at how rought the textures were,.. and the PS2 was supposed to be the next generation of gaming.

I got the mine track today, by coming first in every race.. if anyone didn't know that. Really wicked track which Says something about our industrial waste and current primative outdated technology. I love the rusty cars by the polluted stream and how mad fighter jets fly over in that course with its many shortcuts and storys, such as the digging machines ripping up the earth. good music also.

I took the shortcuts becuase it is in the game. They wouldnt have put the shortcuts in there for you not to be able to take them. And in a race where you can barely see, slide all over the road and racing against opponets the dont know what the brake is, you need every bit of help you can get.

The sound is messed up because he's only getting the left channel, not stereo. He probably forgot to set it to mono sound.

Believe it or not this is exactly how the game sounds on a regular TV with stereo or mono. I used a stereo video importer so both left and right channels should have been recorded into the video. But becuase I posted this video so long ago I cant remember if I really did get both channels or not.
