How I love the very notion of this group just dropping by the nearby tavern or shopping mall or fast food place and dropping music onto the unsuspecting crowd. Wonderful. Where were they when I went to IU?

These guys are very good. My favorite! But if ur going to do pop songs, no matter what genre, your lead needs to sound like they're NOT singing from sheet music. I've noticed that when they do pop tunes, the leads are all mono-toned and lack the emotion in their voice that lets the lead stand apart. And, yes... even a cappella,the lead needs to stand apart. They need to sound a bit LESS like choir boys/more like a performance group, as far as the lead "Pop" vocals are concerned!

Straight No Chaser is also a jazz standard by Thelonious Monk. Pretty fitting title since it is, as job31verse1 mentioned, also straight music with no instruments (a cappella). Hopefully it is also a tribute to Monk.

The original intent for this video was just to capture good close-up singing shots of the group to use in a montage/clip show for their Spring Concert. While filming this I didn't picture it going on you tube. The song I filmed right before this one has Corey (the black guy) as the soloist. Since I had more than enough close-up shots of him I didn't film him very much for this song. If you want to see more of Corey check out some of my other Straight No Chaser videos.

actually the black member whom you are mentioning is carrying the very beautiful first tenor part...the reason he probably was not on camera that much is because he did not sing a solo, if you watch the stand by me video you will see that he has a gorgeous tenor voice...don't judge
