Nice bass indeed. Here in Portugal we use a special net, called "Rabeca" to land big fish. Type "rabeca" and "pesca", search and you`ll see how it works. It`s very simple, and much better then the snag, or the net you are using, specialy if there`s strong surf or wind. If you have any doubt, i can explain how it works. Greetings from Portugal.

I just went there today around 3:50 I caught no fish at all. I used a 15 to 25 test rod with OK bait. Should I use shrimp to catch the small fish and small fish to catch the white bass? And when is the best time to fish? AWESOME VID BY THE WAY

"Yea" you can use shrimp to catch little fish but the bait that we caught this sea bass with was live sardines,,,,,You can also use frozen sardines since there's no live ones around yet,,,,,the best time of year to catch a sea bass is mid-summer,,,,"good luck" and "thanks for the thumbs up"...

These were once almost gone but Sea world funded a hatchery years ago to seed a new core population. If you catch one look for a short wire in the fish ( I think it's in the head) Carries a code. Send to Hubbs .. the SW foundation. Lets them track and better plan the population. Best spot i the world for white sea bass used to be the north end of the Sea of Cortez. Big breeding spot. Then Japanese commercial boats cleaned out the place.

Great vids bro!! I'm originally from the bay but stationed down south now and recently got into pier fishing. Went yesterday and caught tons of baitfish (mackerel, sardines, anchovies). That was the easy part, but when we went for halibut and anything else bigger then baitfish we had no luck. Any suggestions? Also, how do you prefer to rig baitfish? Alive and cut. Help me out bro.

Hey man, I have watched most of your videos. SUPERB. Got a couple questions hope you could help me with. I usually go fishing near oc and land some large rays and a couple sharks, but nothing like the fish i see here. Pacifica is about the same distance from my house and want to go there. Just want to know two things. How is the crowding on the pier? and How is the environment (friendly, competitve, violent). I want to take my kid there and want to know if its the right place for him.

"Hey there",,,,,,Well the pier dose get crowded in mid-summer but even then there's always big pockets where not to many people are fishing,,,,It's a pretty long pier so you really won't find a problem finding a place on it that you would like to fish,,,,Lately the pier has not been to crowded at all so you'll have many good area's to choose to fish from,,,,,,Now concerning the environment,,,,,I see families fishing the pier quite often,,,,

The regular people that fish the pier are quite friendly if you ask them questions or they may just keep to themselves,,,,,"rarely" there's a person with an attitude,,,,but if there is you can just move down the pier a little to get away from them,,,,,I see families take walks on the pier often that are not fishing and want to get some fresh air,,,,,

Well Jay only kept a few steaks of it and we gave most of it away on the pier to some friends,,,,"but" everybody that we gave some to said that it tasted """GREAT""",,,,,,,,Also it fought weird,,,,,It just pulled slow but strong for less then ten minutes until it finally surfaced and that's when I started filming it,,,,,We had no idea what it was until it surface and were really happy to see what it was!
