That's the thing man. If you listen to it a certain way, it absolutely is. The rhythmic syncopation has the potential for inducing trance. African drummers use certain rhythmic layerings and polyrhythms to induce trance in participating dancers/drummers. similarly, the rhythms coheed uses hear, combined with the goblin esque quality of claudio's voice and the ambiguity of tonal center during certain parts is pretty trippy.
