Празднуют не то слово : D Вот как надо праздновать! А то мы ноем-ноем скорбно так, дети обычно уже спят, хор тужится. Победили же! Ура, товарищи! Христос всех победил, и мы с Ним!
I have watched this like 5 times since I found it - I LOVE it. I have heard the same thing re: bells/percussion instruments. The Ethiopian Orthodox Church - though not in full communion with the rest of Orthodoxy - also uses drums at certain times during the liturgy as other Churches would use bells. I have never seen any group of people THAT JOYFUL on Pascha - and the Orthodox can be pretty joyful :)
It is my understanding that "drums" replace "bells" in Africa; they have no bells to ring!
Fr. Joseph Kwami Labi was a classmate at St. Vladimir's Seminary; he and Gertrude visited our family in Binghamton, NY, when Fr. Steven was the priest at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Church. Good to see them again!

For most Priests, Easter is a long night!! They start with vespers Saturday Evening, then there is Midnight Mass, and a lot of Orthodox Churchs have a church get together after the mass, so that means things don't slow down for them from about 7 P.M. to well after 3 a.m., and then it starts early Sunday Morning. But it is a joyous celebration, and they don't really mind. They are celebrating!!!
Wonderful worship! Christ is Risen! I pray one day we can here this beautiful Orthodox worship in our American Orthodox Churches as well :-) Bring on the drums, the cymbals and the timbrels :-). We will also have them in Heaven as seen in vision of Apostle John in Revelations of our future :-).
That was just great! One of the best Pascha videos I've seen. I would like this Fr Joseph in my own church. They really have the Paschal joy, and artistic flair to express it in the own authentic way (and with good voices!). I suppose the drum accompaniment must be an Ethiopian influence; I know they play drums in church after the services have ended: the equivalent of the Russian zvon.
The wonderfully animated priest is my friend and mentor, Fr. Joseph Kwami Labi; with him is Presbytera Gertrude, and they are at a beautiful church in Tema, Ghana....on the sea coast.
Amazing!!!

Father choir director does have the Paschal spirit, but the chief celebrant looks like he had a long night.
