@pcandyhk its an oversize load its suposed to stick out, how ever he should have had hazzard markers up, most of these cowboy plant transporters dont bother
Ive got my HGV licence i dont drive trucks all the time i drive other stuff but the speed that driver is carrying all the time is a joke. I feel ashamed to watch that video truckers are supposed to be deemed professional drivers the person behind the wheel of that truck is a mere monkey. Very unimpressed with his/her driveing.
and. is constantly compremising opposing traffic. Road traffic law: no part of the vehicle must pass beyond a solid central white line. Also, he actually 'drifted' a trailer with a 35 ton excavator (=40 ton).
very skilled to do it.. But not sufficiently shkilled to reattach the head of the padestrian he would wipe out with the vehicle or load coming off of it.
PS.. I'm a trainer of ambulance drivers and motorcyclists.
Mr speed triple.. good riding, but I would've been many more metres behind.
@mblundred If he could 'drift' a loaded low-loader he would be in the guiness book of records...Are you paying attention at the back....."self steer rear axles" common on low-loaders these days. He was travelling too fast but saying that, if you saw a truck that size coming towards you, wouldn't you move to the left slightly? The astra driver was in a world of their own by the looks of that...
Oh please.. you peolple... Don't tell me that you watch this and think it's not bad driving.
To start with. Legally.. this lorry's max speed at any point through the video is 40mph. If you are made aware that the number of metres it travels in 2 seconds is (rough maths) the miles per hour speed. I reckin that even after his efforts to slow down all the way through the village, he is still at about 40. So, he must've been on the limiter through the national limit zone.
There's been a couple of negative replies from obviously cowboy drivers who believe that that it's other drivers who should keep out of the way of lorry drivers and not that these so called professional drivers should drive within the limits of the road conditions.
If you stop the video just after passing the Astra you will see that the mirror is not missing, also the trucks near side wheels are almost on the kerb. What's he supposed to do, take out pedestrians?
Low camera angle gives false impression of speed.
I thought cowboy drivers were confined to Taxi's , obviously not, I had plenty of opportunity to overtake earlier I was just waiting for him to wipe somebody out.
your telling me you ride a 03 speed triple and you can`t even get passed a truck doing 40-50mph......wow you really need to retake your test.....i`m a plant driver also i there was nothing wrong with his driving apart from going over 40,
I am sure the driver is very accomplished at his job and it is not his skill that is in question it is his judgementon on travelling at such speed given the narrowness of the road. Not all drivers are as confident as he is and he was not giving enough time or space for less experienced drivers to avoid contact.
well, that is for the part of other "professional" drivers on the road. But what if a child cyclist where there??? There could not have been enough time to stop the lorry...
Being a professional driver, is not only looking at your own doing, but also anticipating on other traffic mishaps and respond accordingly...
It looks like the lorry driver has skill, but with an oversized load, even on "familiar" terrain with normal load, he was driving way too fast...
i work as a truckdriver in sweden and you got to ask yourself . why can this truck meet a number of trucks without any crashed mirrors? it might have been the driver of the astra who failed on keep his car to the left ;) ..... thats someting truckers se everyday it´s more space to mett a bus or a truck on a narrow road then to meet a car ....
sorry about the spelling i suck on writing english :)
@jocke203 I think you're absolutely right, although the truck driver did move to the left when trucks were coming the other way and he was on the centre line when the astra came past the Astra must have been too close to the centre to lose their mirror. The truck driver also pulled into first layby available after incident if Astra driver wanted to come back. Your English is a lot better than the Swedish any English people can write.
I think it is the load being badly loaded on the lorry. That machine sticks out on the lorry and that might be the point of collision.

Certainly looks that way, probably panic when he saw there was no gap.

Did that trailer tip into oversteer at about 1:20, right after that Astra got nailed!? :o
