He truly makes the most beautiful songs, and u can tell he really feels his music, he means every single word. behind the drugs hes a beautiful, kind and open hearted boy.
He amazes me, he's so talented. He hasn't got the typical good voice, he's got something so much better. His voice is very unique, in the sense that it captivates you. I could listen to him all day & night, his lyrics aswell, they're just so deep & beautiful. For someone who on a daily basis gets called a 'waster, junkie' etc, he's just proved he is so much more than that. This man oozes talent, not many people have that gift. Forget about his addictions and just listen to him, he's amazing.
@SantaSunday He doesn't laugh at his Mothers worry, It's a thankful laugh, you seem oblivious. And Karaoke singer? I don't think so mate... try and live up to the music he plays and the lyrics he writes.
@SantaSunday What an insightful view on the interview. I know Peter is known for writing excellent poems, songs and lyrics but what you've just put would equally rival his talents and the best of his works. Truely inspiring word play from you Mr SantaSunday... Well done, well done. And yes the person that said that "sarcasm is the lowest form of witt." Was being sarcastic. Which justifys the terrible sarcasm I have just used.
I find it funny people are saying how amazing Kurt Cobain was but are forgetting the other artists who surpasses Cobain by a long shot. Jim Morrison. To me, Doherty is better than Cobain but others will disagree, that's the beauty of our modern day society.
Doherty's level of culture and education and literary being far surpasses that of Cobain. But as far as raw guitar goes, yeah, Kurt. They have different strengths and come from different continents; different values too. Pete's a poet, he likes his nuances and references. Kurt was filthy nasty, upfront. Dunno... I love them both.
I've commented before on this very interview. I just watched again & caught something I missed before. This time I see a happy shock when she switches from the BS crap topics to his actual music - which is what he IS offering us. When she asks him to sing - it's like YES! Let that beauty of a song do the talking. The lyrics, melody, the voice, how much he puts into it - that is what his fans love. I would love to see a LIGHT interview w/him smiling & talking about his songs & ideas/plans...
i dont think she met his mother.Nor do i think the letter is even real.Which i think is really fucked up journalism!!!!! I think to take advantage of his vulnerability like that is really fucked.
the most beautiful version of 'music when the lights go out' i ever heard! you have got to love pete doherty, don't see why everyone has to pick on him. He's had problems but nobody's perfect. i think he should be left alone to what he does best, write great songs and poetry
Incredibile la dolcezza e l'emozione durante l'esecuzione di una sua canzone mentre viene intervistato. Lui sembra vivere principalmente per questo e lo si nota quando gli viene chiesto di cantare. Il suo volto quasi si illumina. Grande Pete!
Think kirsty wark comes across very well and professional. Interviewing rockstars is unfamiliar grounds on Newsnight, so for them to even do something like this at the time was surreal. Although it did highlight how notorious he was within the media, for the wrong reasons. She is sharp and straight to the point, and asking him to play one of his songs looked to me like she showed some interest in what he does best, rather than bullet pointing the obvious subjects.
i really like this interview :) I know she's giving him a tough time but those are usually the types of interviews that truly reveal who the person is. I like how honest and open he is and how he doesn't bullshit any of the answers. He's obviously a good, intelligent, thoughtful person and i hope one day he'll be able to realize he doesn't need all those other distractions
@mariehuanaa he hasn't had a ough life in the sense that anyone or anything has made it rough for him. he just decided to get addicted to drugs, that's where all his problems spring from. i'm sure he would be the first to agree that the "rough" aspects of his life are his creation, his choice
@lyrichand i really like the jonathon ross interviews cos he covers all bases about pete - music, writing, relationships and drugs. if pete's goin on the chat show, ross ahs to cover em, bt i felt he did em with respect, and without pushing pete's boundaries beyond cumfort
I'm so, so sad and so sorry to hear the recent news about Peter. My thoughts are and will be on everyone. Such a tragedy on the death of Ms. Whitehead . I'm very sad.
If Pete had died, i was thinking, that music when the lights go out would have made me cry so much... from the second he started struming... its a brilliant performence...
dkhyggelove he says...England, london, Bo, cromwell into the sea...
Bo is a place in east london - oddly enough very close to where the murders of jack the ripper were commited...but he is drawing on Albion as fatasy, fiction, truth and reality....very intelligent writing.......i hope that wasn't patronising, it wasn't meant to be...he is a wonderful poet and a sensitive thinker....in my opinion any way.
Such an icon. In the way that he bought a style. Imagine before Peter if a star turned up wearing a tight fitting suit with a trilby and skinny tie. Thing were going more in the direction of the Happy Mondays and that god-awful baggy style. So he truly was a style icon. Some may laugh and take the piss, to those I say, do you really think you know better than the fashion label that invested in him (and it paid off fabulously)
@guyboxerdog to be fair the strokes were the ones doing it first in the public eye, altho yer doherty was dressin like that at athe time the strkes started - bt no strokes, no libertines signing

There's no point in music snobbery over talent because something doesn't have to be complex to sound good. (Example Come as you are.) Besides indie music has seen some of the greatest musicians (marr) And most of the new indie sounds the same because on A&R men chasing what they think people will like. If you want to listen to Steve Vai, avoid suede.
I could cry.cry again and again.I think most people dont even know what it feels to go sleep and to be frightened of that your big love could be dead next morning. I really know what it feels like. sometimes I cry, again and again. to see videos he takes cocaine, that broked my heart. not only because of me. even because of him, i feel for him. Everybody, who talks shit about him, dont know who he really is.
gurl...why am i even bothering.if you think oasis have avoided drugs... your either extremely naive or just a complete dumb bitch. i personaly believe in the second one.
amazing performance.

The whole idea of indie was started by doing it yourself, so it should sound like it's made in a garage. No one questions punk on it's playability.
