I am a newbie to Gary's career, and having digested every one of his past a present records....the man is brilliant. Yes the middle records were rubbish but the variety and rang of his earlier stuff, a few gems from the middle years, and his last 3 or 4 are a back catalog to be proud of. Add to that his efforts on stage as a controlled and experienced performer who understands atmosphere and attitude....he's a breath of fresh air compared to current, younger performers. Keep writing Gary!

i think he can still do records and tour is because the material off his first 3 or 4 records is so strong. even though he had only 1 big hit , the other songs on those early albums is really strong. he is no 'one hit wonder' . i hate it when he gets called that. its rubbish, bollocks.

I think Numan's industrial stuff is just bloody awful... its sensless and boring.. with that said It really doesn't matter what I think... if his art is what makes him happy... thats great! Brian WIlson is healthy again because he's doing what HE wants to do.... not what his disfunciontal family and controlers want him to do.

@Metrobilbao Numans attempt at NIN is utterly laughable. He doesn't enjoy making music it is a chore that he has to go through to keep his tiny fanbase interested and a few quid in the bank. Even when the music was shit you could always rely on a decent Numan concert, not so anymore even his live shows are piss poor karaoke fests. He uses the same backing tapes for a lot of the set-list that he's been using for decades. Everything about Numan today is a joke.

I agree that his new music is weak, just as he said, he only did it to blend with the days of now. To me, Numan is Tubeway Army - Metal Rhythm. I personlaly have not cared for anything he's done since then.

i remember seeing him on tv in the 80ies with cars...i was a kid, but i already had a big obsession with music, and he's had a big impact on me.There's a lot of numan in my songs now
