  • Does anybody know where I can find sheet music for this arrangement or a similar one?

  • You can see that soloist circle breathing

  • The guy at the end...i know him lol

  • I played this in my jazz band is high achool! I know you said don't comment about your band playing this in high school, but i thought everyone would be really interested in hearing that i played this in my jazz band in high school. It's not that i am selfish or anything, i just know i am more important than most people and that the majority of the people listening to this video would be really surprised and excited to hear about me playing this. High school was a really weird time for me, and i

  • @blanottyfir You made me laugh. This one can stay XD

  • good lord.....

  • 2:17. Oh my god. I think I fell in love.

  • What a great low brass sound. And high brass. And middle brass.

  • @4eva5 its called circular breathing its when you push very hard to force a buzz and breath in thru your nose. I play tuba and can hold a Bb for about 4 minutes

  • male iguana? ok.... i will not tell you that my highschool did this....but it is groovy i guess...

  • Does this exist in a higher quality?

  • this is bl'ast from santa cruz?

  • @redcrow108 They practiced in Bloomington, Indiana. This was filmed in London.

  • Wonderful and amazing !

  • @howtoplanaparty Get over it!

  • I'm in love with this. ;)

  • Hermosa presentación !!!!

  • It just doesn't get any better than that! Pure joy! (Scouts 94-96)

  • holy crap he's still holding that note!

  • Great Performance!

    Monique Nguyen (Paris, France)

  • simply amazing

  • I rape the "replay" button on this video on a daily basis! And get chills every time!!

  • 71 people shadowed in their high school marching bands.

  • My highschool.... oh wait no they didnt ^^

  • Jizz!!

  • Circle breathing, Hell yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The sound of blast has been in my life since I was five. It's not long considering I'm fifteen now, but the theatrics of this entire show inspire me to do greater in my spinning years.

  • that note at the beginning was a good minute long

    mother of god...

  • @EliteLennon117 it's called circular breathing. I can do it too, although not quite to that effect.

  • @Zfortsniff I realized that once I posted the comment

  • When I met ben harloff (The bald guy) I had the biggest nerdgasm of my life

  • oh man, that flugelhorn solo at the beginning...beautiful...

  • this is amazing i had chills the entire time

  • I think it's long past time but needs to be said: It's time to finally retire Malaguena. This is probably THE definitive version and can't be topped. Cadets tried, and while it was a valiant effort, it still fell short. Most marching bands don't have the skill to pull this version off, and those that do have long since moved on.

  • this is so awesome

  • I wish i had the music for this! :)

  • Just saw this live today. AND WOW THESE GUYS ARE LOUD!!! AND AMAZING!!!

  • asdfghjkl;'

  • I love this but it really bothers me that they use piccolo trumpets at the end. It feels like cheating. I think I am getting old.

  • @richspanky72 I see no piccolo trumpets...

  • @SoATrumpet13 Me either...a few Eb trumpets though haha

  • @richspanky72 As my band director says "It doesn't matter. It works. Have you ever seen NasCar? They cheat! They use special tires!"

  • love the gershwin snippet in the solo; amazing performance all around

  • This makes me wanna cry, Thats one of the best versions of that song ive ever heard.

  • i love the Gershwin quotes in the solos haha

  • 70 people hate everything good in this world

  • 70 people's speakers were destroyed by the screaming trumpets

  • THAT... was awesome.

  • I almost like the 03' cadets or 88' scouts arrangements better. But nothing compares to the amazing theatrics of blast!

  • @MuffinMan095 I was in Blast back in 2001. You can't compare Blast to DCI. Both are impressive, but for different reasons. The best of the best arrive at Blast for rehearsal, and within 3 days, they have learned (and memorized) the music for two 5 minute+ numbers and can pretty much perform them with drill for an audience (on a small grid) without any collisions. And all this without dot books! Nothing is written down--the creative team designs the drill on the spot for each cast.

  • @mkolstee One cannot view Blast! without the prism of modern marching arts, as propagated by the entity known as DCI. Without DCI, Blast!... does... not... exist. The repertoire contains a number of drum corps standards, often using updated versions of corps-specific arrangements ('88 Scouts, anyone? Hearing/watching that night after night while waiting for retreat was PURE AWESOME, but I digress). Blast! was/is a phenomal production, but its causal relationship with DCI begs comparison.

  • @iloldirl

Your High School Band be the Spartans would it?

  • I need to add the trumpet-spin to my repertoire.

  • Fantastico!!!

  • Did anyone notice the sword toss/split at 5:28? OMG, Sexy as hell!!!!!

  • no homo, but i want pants like the colorguard guys wear.

  • those riffle tosses are soo awesome!

and i love how ridiculously fabulous that main CG guy is <3

  • OMG i totally went there my freshie yr in high school band field trip in....Rosemont theatre in downtown Chicago...........it was like a marching band play on stage....

    It was HOT HOT HOT...^_^.....

  • My mind was just blown

  • @Jerkicus Obvious troll is obvious!

  • There marching is precise and im going to see them this year. This group blew my mind

  • @Jerkicus Ok

  • Circle breathing for the win!

  • @pagessidekick omg someone who knows what circle breathing is! that is a win in itself

  • Does anybody know if there's anyway of getting the sheet music they used for this show? I really like this show a lot and I want to play it.

  • @uverstegen I have it! :D

  • @WOWLOL21 SCV, the flute player or turning 23 in Afghanistan? lol

  • I never played this in high school.

....Instead I had to wait till college.

  • Rhapsody in Blue 5:34-5:37 ;D

  • @MaroonTrumpet17 He didn't lose the mallet he just tossed it off the drum, it;s the end of the song.

  • HAHAHAHAHAH the male color guard look as if they're *HAPPY*! lol!

  • At 6:03 my mind was indeed blown into multiple small fragments, and it was absolutely worth it. Blast you are AMAZING

  • Oh my gosh, I love this video. One of my favorite songs just got even better! They are incredible, and so uniform in their marching it's great! Thanks for sharing this video! :)

  • I like that; that was great

Does everyone know it was the band after star of Indiana?

  • @ryanboyshane

They were known as the Star Brass Theater

  • This is an excellent Kenton style for brass with beautiful dancers.Super rendition.

  • 2:16 best part ;)

  • 5:38 rhapsody in blue lol

  • Why did this video take 5 years to get over a million views? It should be way above it!

  • This is possibly my favorite representation of Malaguena.. Not gonna lie.. Madison Scouts 1988 put up a GOOOOD run... But the first time I listened to this I about cried. Yes, I'm a HUGE fan of DCI.. But this has so much emotion in it.. This is music.(:

  • this combines almost all feels of music if you know what i mean

  • Reminds me of my years in band and the one year we played malagueña !!! Best show ever!!

  • awesome, shit is dope

  • simply brilliant! jolly well done.... magnificent...... Jimmy the Lip

  • I was with a div III corps for two years and I wish that I had even CLOSE to the type of skills to have been able to be in a line of this ability. I still have the DVD of this show somewhere, I hope.

  • I remember my middleschool had blast on tape, I borrowed it and 'accidentally' forgot to give it back.

  • oh my god rifle spin under the crotch, that guy is amazing *o*

  • 67 people are jealous.

  • MAGNIFICOOOOOOOOOO :) ... is the right word... Thanks for share:)

  • @iloldirl but not as good.

  • AWESOME!!!

  • Did anyone else see the drummer loose his stick there right at the end?

    Thats pretty intense

  • And they say marching band is for nerds.

  • Goosebumps EVERY time.

  • 1:04 I really hope that guy is circular breathing. Because if he did that all in one breath, I would feel guilty for ever breathing during a piece of music. Ever.

  • @coolfoolroolz haha yeah you can tell he is when hes cheeks puff out every few seconds

  • @coolfoolroolz yea he is. see the way he puffs out his cheeks while playing? its a way of circular breathing

  • EPIC timpani player!

  • amaaaazing!!!

  • keep pressing 1 for titty sucking action

  • If i do say so myself the trombones are what makes this awesome! Take that drum corps! :P

  • I was in the Pride of Broken Arrow in Oklahoma all 4 years of HS and we got to see Blast live twice and they are so awesome! LOVE them

  • Love the timpani player losing his mallet at the end.

  • Nice Circular Breathing, 1:20 or so long, wuttufugg..

  • I first heard this song back in the 2004 NWMBC marching band season played by Skyview High school from battleground Wa., and it made everyone extremely jealous.

  • TALK ABOUT CHOPS OF STEEL AT THE END!!!!!

  • Speechless!

  • that was awesome, loved the rifle and I believe was a saber blade

  • @iloldirl Jeremiah -.-

  • @thesousabone

  • b-b-b-ut Im from saint Nazereth!

  • Isnt that carmels band director playing flugel at the beginning?

  • @1digidude No its Ben Harloff

  • 2:16 *Cue Orgasm*

  • I LOVE BLAST! I haven't seen them since high school (about a decade).

  • wow i am retarded

5:45 is the real time i keep putitng 4

  • 4:45 actually lol

  • listen to that trumpet rape that cat at 4:46

  • Aaah! Malagueña. One of my favorite pieces.

  • Great Kenton chart. Thumbs up!

  • Insaaaaaaaaaannely awesome... like seriously....

  • Wow, that was a pretty darn good flugelhorn solo :)

  • WOW. Love this, it's amazing.

  • One of my biggest regrets ever was not marching after HS..if you're reading this and wondering if you should or not, and you have shot anywhere, do it. Even if it isn't a World or even Open class band...I had a shot to walk on to the SCV brass line, and I turned it down. Biggest regret ever....well, that and not dating that flute player from freshman year...but you get my point. I might still be stuck turning 23 in Afghanistan, but before I turned 21 I would have had some awesome times

  • @christopheroutland

happy Birthday man, and thanks. Hope you're home soon.

  • @christopheroutland I love SCV! They were the reason I kept with Colorguard the rest of highschool.

  • @christopheroutland I'm with you there man...I am 34 now...I wish I continued marching after I graduated, myself...

  • @christopheroutland I'm almost 30 now and I still regret not going after HS. If anyone wants to try to march DCI, DCA, whatever, go for it. You only get one chance, don't give it up.

  • @christopheroutland I feel like we have the same life hahaha

  • @christopheroutland I barely got out the service in time and I marched the Cadets this year. I will have to agree with you completely anyone considering it should just do it

  • I remember going to see this show when it was playing in New York City. My Band Parent Organization paid the way for all my marching units to go ( I was the Band Director). After experiencing this show, my students returned as different people ! They were so charged up ! Puts faith in the universality of the language that IS MUSIC ! as well as the need to constantly reinforce its importance in society ! thanks for posting ! ! ! ! ! ! !

  • What are those screaming trumpet notes? I'd like to know

  • @DrummerDawg509

    d-e-flat-f and some g's and double c's

  • This was totaly awesome! Love Malagueña no matter what, but this Colorguard did a fantastic job! Congrats. Where was this?

  • @tubedonu This is a broadway show.

  • It needs more cowbell at 6:00

  • @targetdog1234 its what a* good copy cat; stan kenton made this song; and get a life they wouldve killed ur band

  • what those dancers are doing makes me want to join guard !!! lol

  • That guard work is just FANTASTIC. Especially the rifle toss around 3:30. Just wow.

  • Where can I audition?!?

  • My high school watched this!

  • Haha, you have to love Americans. Tell them not to do something and they'll do it. By the way.....My High School Played This!

  • My high school played this!!! Just kidding, this is by far my favorite piece for marching though. Of course, no high school (especially not mine) would ever sound and look so amazing. But enough of these drum corps arguments. To each their own. I personally love drum corps, and if I didn't, I would post it on YouTube. Stop complaining on the Internet and go practice! Lol!

  • amazing

  • you know....i find the description of this video very volatile. no need to be such an asshole

  • i love their swing flag work...

  • 2:16 commence ejaculation

  • @KenKober I prefer to stick to orchestra, even though the people in this video are so insanely talented. But I'm just saying, there are too many people who say "you don't have what it takes to be in drum Corp.". I'm 15, I play 13 instruments, I've played with groups around the world. I don't care about drum corp., they're of no use to me.

  • @MalcolmDajuan ur so cool

  • @zomgrandomtext Ahhh I know I am=)

  • @MalcolmDajuan - you tried out for a corps and were told to stick to your crappy marching band, right?

  • That guy at the end is hilarious.

  • amazing, i got chills at the end :D

  • I still like Stan Kenton's version better.

  • This is really awesome. And to all you people in drum corp. that are so amazing, no one really cares.

  • @MalcolmDajuan - Hmm, you got what it takes to march corps?

  • I came buckets

  • @tucker422 no, not after my college education. I do know there's an age limit. Just after my auditions to get into college. :) (which are finally finished)

  • @trouble292 oh ok, cool ,who do you want to march?

  • @mmhsbando i hold a note for 1:02 mins, we do it in class for fun, no circular breathing. i just have Tuba player lungs, and i play trumpet. but i do know how to circular breathe :)

  • @thisfreakinoneguy i remember that!, you guys were really good that year!
