You're a fine goof, Nellie. I get what you said about speaking passionately. It seems people these days are so non-confrontational that you can hardly have a conversation about anything important or controversial. They want things pleasantly bland lest someone be (perhaps mistakenly) offended!

I would argue that if you can't say something without getting banned then you never had free speech to begin with. At some point you have to force the issue. I'm no TF fan though.

Debate is forbidden here, but only with me. Most of my family members tend to be religious, conservative, middle class or better (read: spoiled), ill-informed, misinformed and short tempered- OFTEN. I agree with for the most part on the draw Muhammad thing, except that the only one treating the banning like a victory is Thunderfoot. Personally, i feel the action and it's point were entirely about diluting the impunity with which Islam threatens people for doing things that offend them, it worked rather well against Scientology, and it will work against any other brand of idiocy as well. /2cent

I sure know what you mean, Nellie. Before I had my son, I was a part of a revolution. Not on a world-wide scale but a revolution just the same. As a single mom, I have to limit myself to now signing petitions, sending emails, and financially helping when I can. I miss being in the protests and pickets but I can't spend more time in jail at this point of my life.

I agree that yelling about the glories of victory during this whole Muslim thing is a bit silly. Still, to simply say that _the point was well made_ is probably a fair statement. That one state chose to censor free speech is indicative of the power of the message and actually served to make it a bigger story that it would otherwise have been.

Unfortunately, some tried to declare it more than that.

I think it is too early to tell if the bannings of Inet sites have had an effect. A lot of people saw that happen and it could be just the tipping point for 5 people to do something they would not have done. The fight against the Vietnam war was like that. It started out as a few nutty protesters and ended with most of the country.

Victory for free speech, no, not so much. Victory for exposing the ridiculousness that is so prevolent in Islam, yes.

I just pointed out to one of these internet warriors that the people who published the death warnings (they weren't threats) have completely ignored the Draw Mohammad Day. They are still here on Youtube and haven't even made a video response, nor did they mention the Day in their 4 part defence of their condemnation of South Park. Neither did Viacom lift their censorship.

They're not afraid of a bunch of internet warriors hiding behind the anonymity of a Youtube account spouting empty rhetoric

The first world populations are not revolutionary at this point in history. They are extremely fat and lazy. Mexico has some true revolutionaries, what is the difference between Mexico and us? Quality of life. People here have it too good and most will never commit class suicide and give up their privilege for some lofty ideal that may never even come into fruition.
