Im only 36 but I feel my youth connection to Seattle sport is gone. Dave, The Tuba Man, Bill the beer man, Rick the peanut man, Pete Gross, Bob Blackburn...they are all gone. That sucks! Things just aren't the same without all those guys.
i'm gonna miss Dave so much. Mariners baseball will never ever be the same. he was and is and will forever be the greatest sports announcer that ever lived.
RIP Dave you will be missed I just found out the day his wife raised the 12th man flag. I was on a carribean cruise thats why i didnt hear. he wont be forgot in my life he passed on the same day i lost my husband 4 yrs ago and he was a Dave Niehaus and mariner fan also, so i know their up there talking baseball. My husband is in 7th heaven i know that. We will miss you here in Seattle
Wow, I'm just shocked! I had no idea untill just now, and this happened Nov 10th. I don't watch much tv and no one told me. Holy shit, I just met him at Safeco last year. He was walking around greeting all the fans. A real class act. Wow. This is a tough one. Rest in peace Dave. You're irreplaceable.
The man that made me a Mariners fan is gone, my fandom will continue, I will always love the Mariners' just how lucky have we been in the Northwest with Broadcasters, unbelievable. Dave, I look forward to meeting you when I come home as well.. Fly away Dave, fly away! You will be missed.
I grew up in Seattle listening to Dave with my father during those wonderful summer months. I remember going to games in the Kingdome and bringing a radio just so I could hear him call the games. His love of the game gave me an appreciation for baseball and an understanding of what life is all about. Thanks Dave for all those wonderful summer days and nights when you shared your love of baseball with us.
I moved to Renton, WA in late 2002 and listened to the full 2003 Mariner season with Dave Niehaus. What a talented broadcaster! It was like sitting down with a friend for 3 hours and taking in a Mariners game.I loved his voice and how he called a game.I can't believe he is gone.
I Too have lived in the Northwest my entire life, I love the cubs, but Dave Neihaus made me a Mariners fan, I looked forward too Mariner Game nights, cause i knew Dave would be Commentating.. If i could have had any Autograph, it would be Niehaus.. Mr. Mariner Himself... Nobody loved the mariners More than Him.... RIP Dave.....
R.I.P Dave, ive lived in the northwest my whole life. You made baseball exciting when the mariners were struggling. My Oh My! I hope they have baseball in heaven for you
I'd just like to say that Dave Niehaus was to Seattle what Harry Caray was to Chicago, the voice of their respective cities. RIP to both, and I'd also like to send a belated congratulations to Dave for being the Mariners' lone Hall Of Fame representative. May many more follow in his footsteps.
Dave Niehaus was the epitome of the Seattle Mariners. A BIG chunk of histoy, love, memories and future of mariners baseball was taken and it will be hard to fill the void. The Mariners organization should play recordings of his homerun calls over the PA when a Mariner hits a home run. To all of his family and friends, your are in the hearts of all Mariners fans. We are hurting too. RIP Dave
I'll always remember the guy from Ken Griffey's Slugfest on N64! Especially when you hit a Grand Slam! I knew I knew his name from somewhere, and now that I've watched this, much respect to this man!
Great history to witness him live his passion here with the Seattle Mariners and share his enthusiasm of baseball from beginning to end...so gifted to have him...thanks for the years. My Oh My how Dave Niehaus (and his voice) will be missed.
I always loved the bottom of the 5th inning on the radio, "Well good afternoon everybody, this is Dave Niehaus," and then I knew I had the A team on board.
He made the game of Baseball something special. If the Mariners were being broadcast on a East coast station I would turn the tv sound off and turn on my radio to listen to Dave
one year today......
