  • That was a smack-down right there.

  • i bet he does hold lots of empty sacks

  • christian murdurous bastards!!!!!

  • I covet my neighbor's donkey--fuck this shit, i'm going to get my palm read in Salem MA where the christians murdered the relatives of the witches giving me the palm reading

  • TEN: 'You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's.'

  • AND NOW WE MUST BELIEVE MARY'S MOTHER HAD A VIRGIN BIRTH AS WELL .

AND HOW WILL THIS HELP THE STORY OF GOD ON EARTH.

  • Why is it that christian debaters are always loud,They're entire theme is I am loud therefore I am right,.

  • @Lubotsulat It's the old LALALA I CAN'T HEAR

    YOU defense. Very powerful

  • I miss Christopher Hitchens. :(

  • i want to hear the answer

  • why did hitchens point to resurrections that were explicitly caused by jesus to try to undermine the probability of divinity in jesus own alleged resurrection? there are other unrelated historical accounts of resurrection he could've argued his point with. surprised to see hitchens get that sloppy with logic(maybe a little sauced here?)

  • @jeremiahtheprophet77 and of course you people are going to follow after this guy. instead of studying anything yourselfs. have fun with the false logic i hope you guys wake up but that whould take a miracle.

  • Comment removed

  • Christians are such jokes, particularly the american fundamentalist ones.

  • Hitches made a good attempt at trying to debunk miracles but he failed. He simply did the only thing he could which was to say the events themselves if true doesn't mean they point to divine workings. Nevertheless he fails to convince me that they weren't. The best anyone can do here Christian or atheist is to say We aren't sure.

  • @KinaNafasi

I would prefer to admit that I didn't know then make up some ridiculously retarded fairytale that wouldn't even make sense if it was supposed to be fiction.

You have to be some severe form of ignorant to believe that hogwash.

  • @SidMeredith I would agree with you on that. Not sure about the entire hogwash comment. Seems just hatred for no reason really. If you dont believe it; then just say so. Why all the hate? Not that I care; just seems stupid to use so much energy hating something you dont even believe in. That my friend is true hog wash.

  • @KinaNafasi Not hating, just listing to U poor deluded folk whine every time ur ridiculous faith is dismantled gets tiresome. It's like when a child keeps on and on about stupid shit and the parent snaps. I hope this helps you with ur understanding.

  • @TheBrockster88 I love the Atheist posturing in any debate. The pure unadulterated condescension that spews like a sewer from your mouths. If you're so intelligent and the rest of us God chasers aren't then set the example! You have failed for centuries to do even the basics that Christians do so well; You cant even run a soup kitchen. Cause that requires compassion; a concept completely alien to your self absorbed souls.

  • @KinaNafasi more people through out history have been killed, raped, and robbed in the name of god than any other cause.

give the powers to atheist's and in 2000 years, this world would be in a better state than under any faith in power.

  • @webpet85 all the problem with how people view God. comes from people who do those things and says its for God but those things are always in contradiction with Gods will so those who do evil are against God. if only people dont follow after stupid people and after what is clearly good then the world would be a better place. but that will never happen.

  • @jeremiahtheprophet77 i agree, but it pretty hard not to follow the bible bashing nut jobs, when the bible bashing nut jobs are the people in power!

  • @KinaNafasi Compassion as in the Spanish Inquisition? The Crusades? The bloodbath that has gone on for centuries between Catholics and the Protestants, between Orthodox and Catholics? As in millions of $ that the Catholic church alone has spent on lawsuits in the vain attempt to defend the rape of kids who had no idea that it was not "God's will" but the beloved priest's insatiable apetite for kinky sex? As in complicity in the Holocaust? As in...really who are you kidding?

  • @NYCBG How many times have evil men hijacked your religion and did things so reprehensible in the name of Allah that it made you cringe? I'll bet you can count many. I can too, in almost every religion and governmental structure in history you find this. It saddens me that the words of Jesus were never taken seriously be so many evil men. Wonder what you were thinking when those guys flew those planes through the towers? Did you also cringe; if not..then who are you kidding?

  • @NYCBG Where is the so called Muslim compassion to all the Christians living in their countries? churches bombed; Christians burned alive. How dare you judge when so many have hijacked a religion that you hold dear and done horrible things with it? In my country (USA) Muslims dont have to worry about these things (a christian country btw) cause we respect their right to live, even though in the Koran, Allah constantly calls for attacks on Christians and Jews. Admit it. Your point was horrible.

  • @KinaNafasi My point, exactly! Except that you have somehow - erroneously - concluded that I am Muslim!?!?! I only asked a very simple and logical question - what makes the New Testament more "believable" than the Holy Quran? As four my own opinion, I hold that ALL organized religion (Islam included) is DANGEROUS precisely because it is predicated on the suspension of reason in favor of "faith". Nothing is more easily manipulated than blind faith, as history so poignantly shows.

  • @NYCBG I can agree with that. But i will say if one had truly understood the truths of Jesus and applied them as they were intended; none of this would have happened. But again were dealing with the aspect of humanity which seems to be geared towards evil with anything it touches including something that was intended to bring such great joy to the world. And sorry for mistaking you for a Muslim. The last few have been, i didnt mean to be so presumptuous.

  • @TheBrockster88 it didnt he used stupid logic its backwards! really all he did was say that these things happened and that they are not supernatural and said that it doesnt prove jesus was the son of God. but where in sience can we rise the dead and cause a women to become pregnant without sex or artificial insemination when there is scientists. even now it chould not be done but jesus did it 2000 years ago. everything he said was done by Jesus and God so with true logic Jesus is the son of God!

  • @jeremiahtheprophet77 the things he did proves him John 10:25 so Jesus was born of a virgin healed the sick rised the dead and rose from the grave himself! so he is the son of God. i thank this guy for atlest telling you all that these things really happed 1:54 - 2:36 and that they were possible but really they only prove Jesus is the son of God they do NOT say otherwise! becuse they all happed becuse he himself through the power of God caused all these things to happen!

  • @jeremiahtheprophet77 Why not quote the Holy Quran, or Bhagavad Gita? What renders the New Testament a more credible source? Just because you believe in it? Or you Mom and Pop? Come on, it's 2012 and we ought to know better.

  • @jeremiahtheprophet77 Mary got around a bit, and that's ok. A Jewis girl told a lie so she wouldn't look like a ho, plenty of girls have done this in the past mate. The thing is you've built your life around this bullshit. Grow the fuck up...

  • the philosopher he is qouating never refuted the existence of miracles but defined them out of existence..so they could still happen wish u culd upload more of this debate

  • Hitchens is constantly using logic to support his point, but does not even focus on the logic that the Bible was really written to fail...meaning how did a new religion become one of the most dominate religions in the world, yet the way it historically started it should have failed...

  • Hitchens pwn'd that ass he was saying that if he gave them the retarded point's in the bible like mary having a baby with no sex even like if a dead guy came back he's just saying with all this crap that dont prove a GOD DID IT thing lmao

  • RIP Hitch. This argument will not be forgotten.

  • @xenoxai Man, I miss this dude.

  • empty sack haha

  • SNAP!

  • That has to be one of the greatest things i have ever seen

  • Historical evidence or Hysterical evidence?

  • Was Hitchens really that smart? He was arguing minutia over contrived doctrine regarding historical events no one will ever know the truth about one way or the other. The most intelligent thing either could say in this debate is "I don't know." Of course both men are so arrogant and conceited in their tenuous grasp on reality they could never make such a concession. Atheism is just as much a religion and doctrine as any form of theism.

  • @LandDestroyerReport Atheism is not at all a religion..

  • @LandDestroyerReport Please cite this atheist doctrine you speak of. Please point out where it is printed and common knowledge among all who "choose" to be atheists that this is the code they must live by.

My guess is, you've got nothing to support that idiotic claim of yours.

Atheism is the rejection of theistic claims, typically positive claims of things like deities. Had you paid any attention at all to that video, this wouldn't need to be spoon-fed to you.

  • @lordanubisofegypt Obsessing over something you cannot prove is the baseless doctrine of both theists and atheists. And for atheists, it surely is the unwritten doctrine they all adhere to. Surely there is something for you to do that is more constructive and grounded in known knowledge. Hitchens made a fortune with his demagoguery, it was a means to an end for him - what is your excuse?

  • @LandDestroyerReport It sounds to me like you're guilty of making sweeping generalizations. And with nothing to back it up, which is much worse. And you almost seem to be extending that to me which, without even knowing me, is a grave mistake.

Why you think having discussions constitutes as "obsessing" is beyond me. I guess that means everyone should just shut up and not talk about anything, especially when it might be uncomfortable, right?

  • @lordanubisofegypt No, but perhaps people speaking from a position of intellectual authority on subjects they have no possible means of being "authoritative" on should "shut up" - or at the very least, make it clear they have no idea what they are talking about and are being merely speculative. The arrogance of atheists who believe they are certain of the non-existence of God is equal to the hubris of theists who claim to hold an exclusive relationship with God.

  • @LandDestroyerReport You still seem to be missing the point. Hitchens never comes across as you describe in this video. In the past he's said it is impossible to disprove a god; he's been quick to say he doesn't think there is one but that he's open to surprises. In this video, he takes a claim made by his opponent and shows why that claim is faulty. There may be people that act as you describe, but that is not what is shown in this video (not on Hitchens behalf, anyways).

  • @lordanubisofegypt and to give you an example of something Hitchens talked about that was grounded in real, quantifiable scientific knowledge, was when he spoke of being pro-life - as in - there is a living human entity in the womb of a woman during pregnancy. Go look it up - he said it, I'm sure it will horrify you.

  • Actually, he's not 'cherry picking' from David Hume.

To 'cherry pick' means to start with a group of facts and then take a subset of those facts before you start your analysis. This is wrong because it biases the data and ignores known facts. What Hitches is doing is selecting a statement from a list of statements by Hume. Even presuming statement A is false, if A is independent of B, knowing A is false tells you nothing about whether B is false.

  • Does he agree with all the Hume says? For instance, does he agree with Hume's repudiation of causation and induction - the foundation of modern science? If not, why not?

Hume's statement on miracles was part of an entire system of epistemology and Hitchens can't just cherry-pick the parts that he agrees with.

  • Here, as in all his "debates," he does nothing more than state his atheism as an argument. "I do not believe the Bible, therefore the bible cannot be true."

Sonorous, perhaps, but not very enlightening.

  • The title is misleading; he does not "dismantle" biblical miracle claims.

He does, however, correctly point out that miracles do not, in an of themselves, prove anything, i.e. the resurrection as a phenomenon does not prove the deity of Christ. It proves the deity of Christ in the prophetic, redemptive plan of God.

He fails do demonstrate, which he cannot without circularity, that the biblical record is not, in fact, the word of God.

  • The Zombie Invasion of Jerusalem!

What a Great Idea for a Movie!

What a lousy Idea for a Holy Book!

  • Jesus was the first zombie!

  • RIP you gorgeous bastard. I wish there were more people like him in the world than the religious idiots who are running this debt ridden country.

  • I am going to miss that man so much. I came in late to the Hitch phenomenon but I have absorbed as much of his stuff as is humanly possible. So sad that there will be nothing new.

  • Christopher Hitchens Owns Religion

  • Today I watched this video while my girlfriend was sucking me off, I was drinking Johnny Walker Black and listening to Beethoven's string quartets!!!

Let's see God trump that shit!!! (I very much doubt he can)

    xXx

  • @dantrizz What? No cigar? Not sure if that was one of Hitch's vices, but it certainly would have completed the moment!

    -Oz

  • @Ozlanthos I do smoke a pipe but I haven't had a good cigar in ages so next time I have a cigar, don't worry, I'll be thinking of the Hitchslap master. xXx

  • @dantrizz "...AND listening to Beethoven's string quartets."

    Classy touch. Very classy touch.

  • Anyone who says he "doesn't have time to support" an argument in a debate is worthless. Hence, WLC is unworthy to share a stage with Mr. Hitchens.

  • WE LOVE HITCHENS

SATY WITH US LONGER MY FRIEND WE NEED YOU TO FIGHT THESE RELIGIOUS TROLLS

  • @Johnandvanessa That's kind of spooky.

  • How is it that the top comment isn't about the extremely well placed demotivational at 3:15. I couldn't stop laughing

  • hitchins is so on the ball that at 2:56 he evens checks if the uploader added the correct biblical verse in the annotation!

  • @ThrashTash

    lol

  • @ThrashTash LMAO, that's hilarious.

  • @ThrashTash brilliant

  • @ThrashTash LOL! Hitch is nothing but awesome!

  • Hitchens, Dawking, Hawkings. These are the men that have lead us into a reasonable, well-thought out and understanble society. Yet religous devouts keep bring us down and preventing us from advancing forward.

  • @sapzap96 You obviouly dont know what a miracle is. Miracles are all based on science. Its just that most people dont know about this science. Where were you 1 million years ago? You werent even an egg or sperm. So from absoultely nothing you grew and developed a body able to think, invent, lift, study, talk, see, hear etc etc....thats not miracle enough for you??

  • @jpgrygus Miracles are, by their very definition, impossible.

A miracle is an event which cannot be accounted for or explained by any scientific (or “worldly”) means. Anything that happens can be documented. Anything that can be documented can be measured and/or quantified. Anything that can be measured/quantified can be explained by scientific means. All of the above are factual statements, irrespective of our current ability to accurately capture data on any given event.

    Q.E.D.

  • @MoriyaMug Sorry, I agree with Hitch and the no miracles thing 100%, but I think Mr. Heisenberg may have something to say to you about a couple of your statements. Just say'n.

  • @TheJtpond Well, the question there becomes almost philosophical. If it's possible to document something in theory, then my previous post still holds true. I'm aware of the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle. However, there may yet be some undiscovered means of capturing data at the quantum level which will not alter its state. I don't know; I have never studied quantum mechanics. Still, it's an interesting idea.

  • @TheJtpond Don't feel obliged to apologise for understanding that the truth is the truth and that the bible is just fairytales.

  • Hitchens got so owned!!!

  • The world will miss him.

  • @SissingPyd I wont.

  • ....HITCHSLAPPED!!!

  • All Hitchens did was cherry pick one piece of evidence separately. You wouldnt eat each ingredient for biscuits individually, would you? So maybe you should look at all the evidence combined as a whole

  • @humbledberean Er yeah, except eating biscuits and debating religion are two entirely different things...

  • @humbledberean It's hard to look at all the evidence combined when there's nothing to combine to begin with. All this "evidence" is in the bible, no outside sources makes a mention of any of it, and thus it's nothing more than circular reasoning to refer to the evidence of the bible.

  • @humbledberean Lmao. What "evidence". Your Theological superhero Turek hit the nail on his own head in this video. I'm surprised he was even taken seriously after that...

  • All he did was set up a false dichotomy and a straw man. To say that Christians believe Jesus is God only because of the virgin birth or only because of the resurrection is patently false. Notice that all the resurrections, I might add, Jesus was somehow involved in. They did not occur apart from Him. We look at the evidence as a whole(miracles, teaching, fulfilled prophecy) and make our determination based on the whole truth.

  • Even if Jesus was a real person and even if people saw him turn water into wine and cure lepers, that doesn't mean he has magical powers. David Copperfield can convince people that he turned water into wine, and Peter Popoff can convince people that he cures leprosy. A natural explanation is far more likely than a magical one. Jesus was more likely an illusionist and a fraud. It's not like it would be hard to fool such primitive people with a few magic tricks.

  • @GeneralFatman27 Also, don't forget about Mentalists. I once saw one in action and if I was impressionable I could've easily believed that he was able to levitate a table and burn out a page from a book without any other damage. Both of which were seemed to be done. Just b/c one can't explain how something occurred, doesn't merit any type of connection to a deity.

  • @humbledberean The new testament is still a book, which was written by authors who knew about the old testament and none of them had met jesus, how hard is it to write that the prophecies were full filled without any of those things happening? The muslims claim a lot of prophesies and so does the hindus and people of different faith, now why do i have to believe those claims? the bible is true cos it says so in the bible? sorry thats not how a rational mind works.

  • Hitch is so incredibly concise. He leaves little room for credible opposing views.

  • Under the dictionary definition of "pwnage", it should say, "See also 'Hitchens, Christopher, debunking creationism'." It should also include a link to this video. :-D

  • fucking hitchslapped

  • He just nonchalantly and intellectually fucks him with words. Love it.

  • The fact that idiot on the left says the big bang was an "explosion" is proof he is a stupid asshole.

  • funny people :)

  • *Breathes in deeply, holds it a moment, AAAAand exhales* Ahhh! I love the smell or burnt charlatan first thing in the morning.

  • Bablyonian's Egyptions, Myans and many other civilizations that predate Christianity have almost the same "son of the maker" myth

virgin mother, miracle maker, betrayed, 3 days dead, back to life.

It was a VERY common story before Jesus

He was just the one who the Romans decided to adopt when they wanted to unite their Southern empire because they needed their legions to fight in Northern europe. He may even have thought he was the son of "god" himself - poor deluded man

  • Christianity: a covered-up affair gone too far!

  • @lulle103 my thoughts exactly...poor jesus really thought he was god :(

  • No one said that the universe exploded from nothing. scientists believe that it has exploded from a very small dense point, which is not the same as nothing.

  • Watch the Lawrence Krauss video titled "A Universe From Nothing" for an explanation of why it really isn't. At the most fundamental level that we know of, matter is constantly appearing and disappearing out of "empty" space thanks to quantum mechanics. He goes on to point out that "nothing" is an unstable condition for the universe to be in, like a pencil balanced on its point raised to a nearly infinite power: all other possible states include the existence of "something."

  • Religious lunatics annoy me. We're here on Earth because the conditions for life have allowed us to be here. It's not because a sky-daddy created us.

  • BULLSEYE! HITCHSLAP!

  • All I could think at the end was "BOOM HEADSHOT!"

  • Id love very much for Mr hitchens to set a debate up with a Muslim scholar id love to see it, not because im a Muslim , just in general

  • hitchens=winning

  • @ALIBEGU Hitchens will always be winning. He will Hitchslap you even in death.

  • Should I point out no explosions were involved in the Big Bang, and that Stephen Hawking - who, despite his disease, still has more working neurons in a toe than this idiot in his whole head - has proposed that the Universe can actually emerge out of "Nothing" as a result of already known laws of physics?

  • Hitch is my god! Study the bible, pray without ceasing, go to church and question your beliefs. Eventually you will lose your faith and be Antichrist as I am.

  • @psychosocialmarc "Hitch is my god!" You don't need any gods lol.

  • @lewars1912 Totally! Hitch IS GOD ALMIGHTY!

  • Christopher hitchens Is a brilliant thinker.

  • Hitchens is so win.

  • @ytfmichaelxu Hitches is so....dead. Guess he didn't win.

  • @textbook43615 Just like everybody else who was born! But when he was alive, he did a lot of Hitchslapping! And those WINS are all that matter!
