This movie is really great. Definitely my favorite of all Japanese films. This movie felt different from the common Japanese film. It felt more humanized and not so Japanese if you know what I'm saying.
@AgentCell I think that's just a sign that you aren't watching the right japanese films. Some of the most beautiful films I've ever seen have been japanese (more animated than live action, but I have seen plenty of really beautiful and very moving films that were japanese). I know what you mean as far as most gangster or horror films are concerned but, there are many beautiful and emotionally moving japanese comedies and dramas (and anime, especially Hayao Miyazaki's films).
