@98Nash76 A lot of metal polishes are watery, Autosol is thick so its less likely to run into your ports, just keep it on the metal and out of the holes and you'll be fine. Idc about brass polish, i never tried it.

@lego398 In that case i believe you are screwed, i wouldnt be as worried about the camera as the mic hole back there, you dont want to plug that. So if you could be supper careful and not get any in there, or if you knew how to take it apart and clean it when you have access to the other side... But that would void the warrenty and you might ruin your ipod in a number of different ways trying that,

@marfg12345 i never got mine to look like factory new either, i dont think you could get rid of the logo with autosol on a cloth. If its still there after you took a scratch pad to it your probably safe. Maybe try using a softer cloth for less tiny scratches. Your english is just fine :D

@marfg12345 yes, if the spunge you used left surface scratches and it looks cloudy it will take a few more applications then normal but it works. Thats how i first tried it on another ipod, i used 0000 steel wool and i could no longer see my reflection in it. Autosol brought it back to shiny:)

and now it's shiny and i can see my reflection perfectly in it, like a mirror

but i do notice that when i bring the iPod near to light, i can see a lot of micro scratches, i already polished the back 10 times, i'm afraid to do it more, i don't want my apple logo and info to fade away

should i do it more?? to completely remove those scratches, and will the logo fade?

@bananalicks those micro scratches that i was talking about are remnants of brushed metal... i can't seem to buff 'em out completely, i concentrated on one point and just polished that square inch, and i notice the scratches are almost gone on that square inch i polished firmly, but i'm afraid to get near the apple logo and that engravement beneath the logo

i'm quite satisfied with autosol, atleast it brought the shine back :)

You may be able to remove that dent with a suction cup found it out by accident got high n tried to remove a dent in my homeboys car with a plunger lol... I nearly shit myself when it worked popped it right out so worth a try

Don't buy Autosol its hard to find and its expensive at amazon. I recommend Mother's Mag & Aluminum polish since you can get a 5 oz. bottle at Wal-Mart for around $4. It works just like in the video including the back residue. Google it. Help people by putting this at the top.

By the way: u aren't gonna get rid of the black. The black is little shards of metal that you are rubbing off. The metal polish is abrasive, so what you r doing is lowering the height of the rest of the metal to match the ridges (scratches). Amazing what a 9th grader knows huh?

the science of the polish is the grid for wood plastic etc. is that the grids are numbered.. from finesse to toughness.. finesse are like 600 700 800 1000 1500 etc while tought ones are 50 60 80

so the polish is like 4000 5000 6000 and more... but even finnesse is the wax thats why it makes it shine.. i worked in a auto shop...

@xRecklessX1 technically if you go for brushed metal look and then try to polish it back it should look even better than just trying to polish it. Look up any video for polishing chrome or cars and apply the same for ipod

@xRecklessX1 dont listen to him. just use fine grit and try not to press down on the apple logo when going over it. But you already have brushed metal so just polish it. I use a dremel with a cloth/felt tip and different polishes to get it perfect. you can also use a drill but its harder

The only way to really, REALLY protect something like this is to have something like the self-healing GhostArmor put over the entire device and then put a cover on top of that. The case (usually) prevents or reduces major damage, such as from drops; and the GhostArmor prevents the scratches from dust between the case and the device.
