  • Thanks for your comment. You may not have noticed that Lauren has Down Syndrome. For a child with physical disabilities, figure skating is quite challenging, and Lauren has done very well at it. It's really a matter of awareness and understanding of Down Syndrome that I continue to post Lauren's videos. She wants to be an inspiration to those with disabilities to let them know they can do anything they want to do.

  • @dmiller722

I wish Lauren the best in life, for she is truly an engaging performer and doing very well in her field. However, Galena is not an ideal place to host Special Olympics events, since it's also a place where students with Down Syndrome are targeted with prank calls and the school system warehouses all special-ed students in Hanover to keep them out of the "regular" school. This hosting is a cover-up/volunteer opportunity, sadly enough, but that doesn't diminish your daughter's work.

  • shut up...........idiot

  • I did not even say anything you fool!

  • We had a great ime meeting you and Lauren in Galena. Her performance last year was great and I cannot wait to see her 2009 performance. Thank you

  • Thanks so much. I just posted her video from Galena 2009. It was a fun time to be at the Games.

  • this makes me glad and sad

  • She did amazing! I love the song choice as well!

I had no idea there was Special Olympics ice skating.

I know I can't ice skate at all, all I do is fall.

  • Thanks so much. Music from High School Musical. Lauren loves to skate. I'll have a new video soon.

  • she's talented!

  • Wow! That was great! Lauren is a wonderfull encouragement to me.I just had a daughter with Down Syndrome July, 22.Lauren gives me great hope for my baby!

  • sorry you found it boring. did you note that Lauren has disabilities? if not, watch it again and see her accuracy. she is learning to do jumps, but please recognize, Lauren can't even ride a bike. so her accomplishments are truly great given her physical limitations. it's all about patience :)

  • Im proud of her she was amazing. I dont believe it was boring at all

  • ihave to go to a home for "special kids" this year for ccd do im trying to learn more about them, if that sounds ok. and also i live in illinois

  • that is great. i did the same thing when i was a counselor at a summer camp and did volunteer work for a home with disabled children and adults. they will appreciate your assistance. nothing to be afraid of.

little did i know i'd have a child myself with disabilities. the support work i did when i was younger helped me.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!! The smile on her face!!! I watched the one from 2007, she has made tons of progress!!! Give that girl a big high-5 for me!! Tell her someone from Oklahoma said "WAY TO GO!!!"

  • Thanks so much for your high five. Lauren beamed when I read your comment and said, "I feel like I'm famous and I like being famous."

She is so proud to have her videos on YouTube.

May I ask how you came across Lauren's videos?

  • I have a son who has Asperger's Syndrome, and I was looking at some video's that some friends suggested from other people with Asperger's. Then was kinda wondering about the Special Olympics, so typed that in and Lauren's video from 2007 was one of the first ones I came across. Noticed that you had others of hers, so I watched them too!! People say that those with Down's Syndrome, or Asperger's, are "handicapped." Yeah, right!! We so called "normal" people are the ones who are handicapped!!!

  • it was ok

  • thanks for your feedback. Lauren continues to work on improving her skills and is excited for another year of Special Olympics. Your support in viewing her video is appreciated!

  • Lauren is 10 and has Down Syndrome. I appreciate your comment. While these may not be "great" moves when compared to typical children with normal response times/reflexes and muscle tone, you need to consider the level of physical disability that a child with Down Syndrome has to fully appreciate Lauren's accomplishment.

Part of appreciating Special Olympics is the understanding of what obstacles the individuals have to overcome.

    Thanks for your feedback.

  • That is nothing close to great! Those moves are baby moves... there weren't any spins! Her backward crossovers are so slow! How old is she?

  • Did u write this comment after I sent u the other one?...Cause I didnt see this when I wrote that comment! Also u can't tell me what comments I can keep and which ones I can't!So why dont u keep ur mean and rude comments to ur slef! And yes I do care...the reason is because I have a cousin with a syndrome like that and she is a wonderful and beautiful young lady!Thats why!

  • U know what!!That was just a mean comment!Gosh have a little consideration! And I dont think u could do any better ur self so keep the mean comments to urself! She is great!

  • YOU KNOW WHAT?!! It's none of your buisness of waht I think! It's my opinion. YOu don't go around telling people that their opinions suck cuz your opinion sucks too! And how do you kno if i'm better at her?! And no she isn't great! WHY SHOUlD YOU CARE SO MUCH ANYWAY?! you don't even know her! Your not even the video maker!!! Keep your comments to YOURSELF!

  • Thank you for standing up in defense of Lauren and others with Down Syndrome. Actually, I don't believe minihillary realized that Lauren had Down Syndrome when she wrote her initial reply. We have to understand that not everyone knows about Down Syndrome and that we can help them understand by responding in a constructive way.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

  • what do u mean she has not talent? its the special olympic DOY!!!!!!
