the fin boxes are bad. They crack. Im an old guy and dont even turn hard and both boxes cracked. Another guy i know had to return 2 robber in a row to the CI shop. They gave him store credit to get a different board. but the board is great until the fin boxes crack.
@062941 I'm riding a Firewire dragonfly fish right now with a quad fin set up. It's still super loose but really fast. But when it really comes down to what you want to ride, just experiment with your choices; see what works best.
Im new to surfing(only ridden a longboard) and can get in the pocket, and i was looking at some channel islands boards(i want to get into shortboarding), would this be a good board for me?
I'd say if ur stepping down from a longboard go for a fishcuit preferably, or even a biscuit. Ur gonna want the extra volume, catching ability and paddle power a fat low rocker board like a fish or an egg shape will give you.
btw i prefer the fishcuit because I like how the volume in retroish shapes are pushed forward since im a very front footed surfer i tend to pearl if i don't have much buoyancy under my front foot, but the wide point forward also gives good planing surface for speed and carry through flat sections. Another great board i would look at is the Firewire Sweet Potato, i just ordered one myself

im 6 even and 155 and i can get away with a 5' 6-8" even in the mushy small surf we get here in texas. i think rob rides a like 5' 3"(according to an add in surfer)
