No it's not! Traditional absinthe preparation does not involve burning the sugar. It is a moden part of the ritual which was invented during the czech revival of absinthe (which itself differs from traditional absinthe considerably and is called Bohemian absinthe)
THUJONE dont do shit anyway, its the combination of good quality herbs and the alcohol, basically brands that boast about having 100mg of thujone are usually shitty tasting or liars to consistantly produce that amount of thujone.
absinth with less thujone is not absinth, and even this one is poison. only homemade absinth is the real one nowdays, ask in czech republic and u'll find it. i also suggest to try another nice poison made in poland and czech alcohol based on plums 80% much better taste and effect than absinth, it is called "sliwowica", u can buy it only illegaly but it is quiet popular and there is no hang over another day ;)
