Beginner Question: Why Does MuseScore Keep Adding In Rests?

I have a question....

So I typed out all the crotchets.....

and I wanted to change to all quavers...

However I selected the whole thing and pressed the number 6.....

nothing happens?!?!?!

What are the alternative methods???? Thank you in advance!!!

hey i got a question, how do u split a long measure in half and make it go to the next line so you can save space on your paper?

@0MindSwept0 There are only a few rare situations where I'd do that - ie. when the music has a pickup into a new section. If you simply want to save space, you should try to change the formatting/layout. You can make the overall stave size smaller, or alter the layout of bars using the Breaks/Spacers palette.

@MuseScoreHowTo well i have several songs that have those "broken measures" that im trying to get onto MuseScore, I like the overall size that it is, i just want to know how to split the measure in to two parts.

@0MindSwept0 OK no probs. You'll need to create two separate measures and then shorten each one to the desired length: right-click on the measure and choose Measure Properties, then next to "Actual", reduce the number of beats to amount you need i.e.. if you wanted to split a 4/4 bar in half you would change the "Actual" length of each bar to 2/4. Hope that helps!

If you change your mind after entering a quaver and delete it, you end up with two quaver rests - any idea how to get back to the crotchet rest? The only way I found was to delete the bar and insert a new one.

@mochyngwyn you could click on the first rest symbol and while NOT in note entry mode, click the crochet. Or, while in N.E.M., u could select "crochet" and click right after the last note you entered.

@mochyngwyn You can select the first quaver rest and then click on the crotchet button on the toolbar across the top of the screen (i.e.. you ask MuseScore to increase the rhythmic value of the quaver to a crotchet)
