i have just started learning blender. I can only create crappy pics no amazing animation like you. Where can I learn to become really good at blender and what tips could you give me.
3d is a very big genre. your success will depend on time, dedication and talent. the tip I guess I can give is to focus as much as you can on as few things as you can, even if you have talent. But I might be wrong even in that point.
@guismoale dude your fucking great, this is so creative, you are good, but you also have a talent, i would have had to get hight to think of this, i love how you make the dragon split at the end to show it was just water and not a dragon covered in water, which made it way more trippy
" particles makes no visual difference, but makes everything much slower."
If it is the Generate Particles option you refer to it will not make a visual difference until you create a particle system to render the generated particles. I recommend avoiding the particles as I've had great problems with them myself.
thanks for the tip. I guess I used particles correctly, since I have used them correctly before. But I might be wrong.
But anyway, my experience is the same as yours. I have never seen a blender fluid with particle that would not get worse then without them. It is an interesting option but so far practically useless.
Just record ...i just wanna see how its made. How the dragon mesh can turn into liquid and how he come out the fluid. Just record with no sound make a simple example with another object (simple) Please
I began researching to make this tutorial yesterday, but I do not know when can I make it. This simulation takes time and many bad things happened that will steal my time.
I will try. But I do not know if I can make it any time soon. And it possibly will not be a video tutorial.
you inspired me to make my own animation like this but longer and with tyrannosaurus / crocodile / dragon thing. i'll post it as a replay when it's done :-)
Yes. But the fluid control tends to crash blender depending on the resolution or something that I still do not know. I kept this resolution for safety and time problems. I just wanted to get to the result quickly.
I used blender 2.49. But this effects is possible since 2.46, I guess.
Great result anyway , after that , is just a question of limitation of the software and/or the hardware. I'm in the world of vfx films from about 10years and working with XSI most of time ( I know Maya too ) but i'm always very interested by what some people did with this free software.
I'm starting to learning it at home when i can find a bit of time and i thing is a great software with cool features compared to is commercial competitor. Just the internal render engine is a bit slow compared to commercial one like MentalRay or 3Delight. I did some test too compare a couple of week ago.
I wanted to stop using max and was going to learn xsi. But then autodesk bought xsi. So I went to blender instead. I do not consider it to be weaker nor stronger then xsi or max. But it is a good tool.
The internal render is as bad as max scanline. But for different reasons. Just like in max you definitely have to use third party renderers. In my case, I am finding yafaray to be as marvelous as vray. But there is vray for blender too.
ok. I never tested yafray but I'm looking for him. I'm learning Blender just for fun and personal project because it is free and yet he do all that XSI ( and probably Max and Maya) does for my need and even more.
I think the Blender internal is excellent in features. If you've seen some of the things produced with it, you'd think so too. The main problem with the internal renderer is that it needs good, painstaking setup.
Yes i know :) it's a great news. I did my test with 2.5 already. This the result: The scene spec = Car with 1.7millions of polygons. ------------ Default material on all pieces , no texture ... etc. Just one light with hard raytrace shadows. XSI -> Mental Ray = 4sec XSI -> 3Delight = 25sec Blender Internal = 55sec -------- Same scene with simple reflective/refractive material: XSI -> MentalRay = 10sec XSI -> 3Delight = 35sec Blender Internal = 62sec
Now you just need a youtube account called ''FluidDragon'' And you'll have yourself a intro :P

how long did this take to render?

This looks like what would happen if you shot a RPG at a dragon, then it blew up and bled to death.

In the second animation, how do you get the fluid translucent?
Ri4tje 4 months ago
@Ri4tje In the fluid's material, there's a place to select transparency.
EpicActionAnimations 4 months ago
@EpicActionAnimations I see the button, but if I click that only the preview box turns transparent and my fluid stays the same. Why?
Ri4tje 4 months ago
@Ri4tje You have to render your images to see it.

Did you by any chance use your arm for motion capture when making this? I see an arm coming out of the fluid.

In lieu of a full tutorial, can you just post a process list?
Thanks, this is wonderful!!

I am sorry I still did not do it. But I swear there was a link here with the proccess. Anyway, I updated the decription with the link.
Hopefully, next month I will do it, since I have just one more job to finish and a new computer.

sup3rt0aster 2 years ago
Wow, so the shapes are created just with obstacles? Because I've wondering about that for a long time
mrjimmyos 2 years ago
It is not an obstacle, it is a control fluid.
It may react like an obstacle, but can do much more.
guismoale 2 years ago
Oh my mistake, thanks for the info, I'll have to look that up sometime
mrjimmyos 2 years ago
wow , very cool !
Can you put more resolution on the fluid to have less of "blobby effect" ?
Which version of blender did you use ?

greyspot00 2 years ago
Well they sped it up nearly three times the speed in blender 2.5 ;)
mrjimmyos 2 years ago
PyroEvil 2 years ago
Blender serves for a lot more then just fun. In the begining I was like that. Now, I rarely use max.
Blender 2.5 is faster in some things, but still very slow compared to most things.
But in certain things, like refractions and subsurface, it is very good. Specially subsurface. Occlusion too.
