  • I do something like this without the torso movement from an inclined bench position. Awesome.

  • Is this technique suitable for extending a set of dumbbell curls or is it best done on its own?

  • @DanielAnchondo You could probably use it that way as well, but it is meant as a stand along exercise.

  • I found this exercise more effective from other bicep exercises I have tried.

  • Scott how do you do tubing cheat curls?

  • many variations there as well. Can do like these, with tubing behind you, or can do mimicking a barbell version. all are "variations"

  • Just introduced to this with Scott this week, just awesome! I used to be so rigid with this movement, now as Scott said "give it a bit of sweetness" with a bit more dynamic to the lift. Thanks gentlemen

  • How do you feel this technique compares to an accentuated-eccentric such as adding a bit more weight than you can strictly curl, and doing a 1-arm DB clean followed by a strictly controlled eccentric?

This method is a bit more true to the curl on the concentric, but the other would seem to overload the eccentric more. I suppose they are both tools for the training tool box as opposed to an either/or proposition.

  • Coach Abel,

Is it best to place this type of movement at the beginning of a biceps/arms session in order to potentiate the CNS and activate MU's before moving on to more isolated/strict movements?

What you said seems to fall right in line with something similar I heard from Christian Thibaudeau. He refers to movements as Enhanced Momentum Movements and says you should strive to use just enough body English to lift around 5-10 percent more weight than you could in a strict fashion.

  • forget about numbers and percentages and absolutes. you shouldn;t need a calculator to work out. enough of that kind stuff

and depending on the program there are all sorts of means to applying the move. Its just a variation, one of many
