Superb ...the strings are missing of the track, from the re-recorded album in question ( has to be a logical reason why ) but doesn't take away from this wonderful instrumental tune ,up there with with Atlantis ,Wonderful Land ,Breeze and I ....Christ ,I'm talking about the Shads ....

@TheDavidjoy @TheDavidjoy Hi Davidjoy ,I'm not refering to the original 60s track but the album cover is from the Shads re-released ' new recordings ' titled ' The Shadows at there very best ' from about 16 years ago and on the ' theme for young lovers ' track ,

there is a lovely synth backing covering for strings , which is also present on their live shows but seems absent from this particular track ,

This sounds to me exactly the original recording. I know I played it on an old gramaphone day after day for years when I was young, about 47 yeras ago. The disc cost about 25p new money. 5 old shillings or 4/11pence.

The shadows played with a melody , very creative and original and when they played a song it told a story and you got the feelings , unlike most lead guitarists of today its all scales , speed and not much else. The shadows distinctive sound will always stand out.

We were true "young lovers" when this was a new. My beautiful blonde girlfriend and I followed a Shadows cover band (The Echoes) around their Sydney gigs. The guitar note at 2:14 still gives me a warm feeling and probably always will. What became of The Echoes and singer Big Norm Miller. A super bunch of guys.

Yeah that's true, Buddy Holly really inspired people to be themselves on stage. You see a guy like him, a regular guy, not afraid to wear glasses on stage, even dresses nice, and boom, that's cool.

You're completely right. A lot of people in this world have mad guitar skills, but nobody that I have ever come across has had the ability to make a guitar sound like hanks does. This tune is truely brilliant, and the reason why I started playing guitar, myself.
