As Fab explained in an interview he was 18 at the time straight from France signing a German contract, he had no manager or legal rep present and was obviously deceived. They were led to think they would be using their own talents. I think by the time they found out this was not the case it was too late to even think to get out. @shortti3 I think the money (and stardom) was the primary motivator. People will do just about anything for that, and it bit them on the arse. There are plenty of entertainers today who have no talent, but don't care - the industry props them up as long as there are fans buying albums and concert tickets. It's a cesspool with no real incentive to be a real talent. But I enjoyed some of MV's music - even if it wasn't their own.

On the other hand, that might not have been a concern for them but given that they didn't know ppl can't assume that this was, in fact, what they wanted. The story behind milli vanell turns out to be the real scandal. During a concert and will work with the best people and equipment. A plate will not skip and certainly not just that one piece. This is not right. The sound engineer was Frank Farian (Boney M, la bouche) He has been instructed or at least the sampler button. Rob and Fab have never been able to tell their story that is not fair. The rest is on google. Fab you really deserve a second chance! Give me a green thumb so others know.

He was very troubled though. He was biracial & adopted by very conservative Germans, ran away from home at 14 and his family completely wanted nothing to do with him when the scandal was revealed. Losing the fame & being mocked was hard for Rob because it was the only time he felt appreciated.

A lot of ppl don't realize that these guys were just as oblivious as anyone else at the start of becoming Milli Vanilli. As Fab explained in an interview he was 18 at the time straight from France signing a German contract, he had no manager or legal rep present and was obviously deceived. They were led to think they would be using their own talents. I think by the time they found out this was not the case it was too late to even think to get out. There are plenty of entertainers today who have no talent, but don't care - the industry props them up as long as there are fans buying albums and concert tickets. It's a cesspool with no real incentive to be a real talent. But I enjoyed some of MV's music - even if it wasn't their own.

On the other hand, that might not have been a concern for them but given that they didn't know ppl can't assume that this was, in fact, what they wanted. In any case, I'm still perplexed at why they admitted that they lip-synced all the time!? They could have just stated that one of them had a throat problem and syncing was necessary for that concert only....I dunno. Shame someone died throughout this.

The story behind milli vanell turns out to be the real scandal. During a concert and will work with the best people and equipment. A plate will not skip and certainly not just that one piece. This is not right. The sound engineer was Frank Farian (Boney M, la bouche) He has been instructed or at least the sampler button. Granted, after that, the groundwork was laid out to make boy bands that were just eye candy, only mediocre voices, and didn't write their own music or played instruments. And to think the Monkeys were blasted for not being able to play an instrument way back when...

I guess they figured they might as well try to enjoy it, which is still hard because you're always fearful of being exposed. The drugs was the only way they really could keep sane from all the pressure of having to pretend they were the real singers.

He was very troubled though. He was biracial & adopted by very conservative Germans, ran away from home at 14 and his family completely wanted nothing to do with him when the scandal was revealed. Losing the fame & being mocked was hard for Rob because it was the only time he felt appreciated.
