I don't get why non-Jewish parents would get so upset about this. All it is doing it educated kids why some other families celebrate Chaunkah, or including it so the Jewish kids don't feel left out. But the story is really dumbed down and not that accurate.

a little dumbed down? it is missing some crucial information, such as the fact that it was a miracle FROM GOD (duh!) that made the oil burn for 8 days.. and not to mention that a handful of jews defeated the entire greek army. and what i was referring to as "anti-semitic" more specifically was the "ch-anuka vs ha-nuka" segment.

Actually, the story isn't so innaccurate. It's dumbed down a great deal, but pretty much correct. It's basically the same chain of events which I learned at Temple over the years.

well, I think Sesame street would rather stick to teaching kids about customs and people and things they can experience with their 5 senses. God and otherworldly concepts are things one learns through parents or first hand experience through their own minds and hearts, not the TV. Just my opinion.
