@TongueSpeakingFool GlitterBerri's site has a translation page. Beyond that, I'm afraid I can't advise on how to use old foreign systems designed for use with a defunct broadcast service; try Satellablog.
Probably, but most likely not. I guess through the weeks/months/years this was up the town would change. News would appear on the "billboard" (near the tree), you could 'download' the games you wanted to a flash cartrdige (I think). Could take a quiz to win a prize.
All sounds so DAMN nice. Yet it never went outside Japan, nor would be redone today or in the future.
This was succesful, it was just not released outside of japan. This online service lasted from 1995 until 2000. Wow. AT the time, the Nintendo 64's online service in Japan (RANDnet) was up too.
Apparently there was a Memory Pak as well as internal storage, but I've no idea about buying them... Your best bet for finding out about Satellaview stuff is to check Satellablog.
GlitterBerri closed her account down a while back for reasons I'd better not disclose, so I'm afraid she won't be answering. (But yes, she can translate from Japanese.)
Yeah, Even way back at NES times they had online services (over the telephone lines) for the Famicom with games that basically spawned the MMORPG genre.
Right. Basically you get text boxes from any building other than the one you start with. Also you can talk to a tree. As far as I can tell the mole (outside the building with the heart) doesn't do anything.
I also mean that you can't really download anything because this isn't the actual system. If it was, you would be able to download games via satellite.
This sprite style reminds me a lot of earthbound.
What were each of the diffrent buildings for? any clue

Is there a way to still get carts with the rare download-only games? Maybe even emulate it somehow or trick the system into reading them?

@Thepiratejoe Have a look at Satellablog (which you'll have to find with a search engine, thanks to YouTube's URL-blocking).

Are the buildings saying they aren't home? I can read some hiragana and other parts of Japanese but can't recall of what I know.

And the music is great!

Hey is this add on worth getting? I mean is there anything you can do with it besides walk around the town? like are there any games on it?

Not anymore; it received games via broadcast, and the broadcasts stopped years ago.

I wish they'd release this game for the Virtual Console using a server or something as a replacement for the satellite system.
It would work with some re-coding, right?
