From a military perspective, the german army in WW2 were far more advanced in weaponry and well disciplined compared to any other armies in the world. And a lot of people fail to remember, the allies also did some terrible things, such as executing prisoners, commiting rape and killing civilans. Both sides of the war commited unthinkable acts. @CaporalMichelson The Germans did those acts because they were ordered to by high command. Most of the soldiers did not want to do these acts. But they feared being court mashalled, discharged from the military, or shot for treason. There were some soldiers that disobeyed orders and let prisoners go. Just because their actions are morally wrong doesn't deny the fact these were well trained and well equiped men who simply fought for country believing it was for a good cause.
