  • This book sounds very interesting. It reminds me of this podcast called Stuff you missed in History class. It does profiles on well known history, and not so well known history!

  • Do you not wear hijab all the time then?

  • i've left islam.

  • Well, you've no doubt seen my comment waiting on your profile, so if you want to respond more fully please do. :)

  • @zippadeedooday Fail.

  • I haven't been on as often as I would have liked what with cancer treatments and such so I've been out of the loop, as you can tell. Erin and I already discussed this a little in private messages almost a week ago now, so I'm caught up.

Thank you so much for your kind comment and non-trolling attitude, though, especially given the innocent nature of my comment. :)

  • Thanks-I'm getting that book!

  • Thanks Erin....I think I am going to take a trip to Barnes and Noble tomorrow. If you want another interesting...kind of 'hhmmm" book, look for one called Roman Soliders Don't Wear Wrist Watches. I thought (as a film student) that is was pretty cool and I think it is something that would be right up your alley.

  • Fascinating !!!!! Yeah, I wikipediad the Roman Calendar and it turns out it hat a very checkered story.

I know the Babylonians and the Greeks used Lunar. I also know that the Egyptians used Solar since they worthiped Ra the Sun. So maybe hte Roms copied the Egyptians, which they had just conquered.

  • it was actually his love cleopatra who introduced him to the egyptian astronomer sosigenes.

  • I had no idea !!!!!

    WTF !!!!

    Keep it up, girl !!!!!

Soligenes looks like a Greek name, and Cleopatra means Glory of her Father in Greek, too. Coz they were all Greeks who had in turn conquered Egypt.

  • I keep forgetting to tell you! My favorite podcast is Stuff You Missed In History Class. It's awesome. They're only about 15 minutes long but I thought you would like it.

  • Thanks for the recommendation! I just ordered it from my library.
