"This is taken from his "Last Sessions," recorded in late 1948, in New York City. "

  • I have been totally blown away by LeadBelly ...i listen to his music everyday and sing Goodnight Irene everyday as well

  • ...a real slice of Americana. Actually the legend of John Henry originates in Talcott, WV at the site of the big-bend tunnel. I live close to it.

  • @n8tureboy How do you know this? People make up facts about certain places to draw tourism all the time. Not saying you're wrong just... you aren't necessarily right.

  • @samaeloffated

I do agree with your statement about the tourism aspect, but if you'll Google the legend of John Henry you'll see that it talks about the Big Bend tunnel here in WV. I should re-state and say that I don't know if the legend originates there, just that it supposedly took place there. John is an American folklore hero that supposedly worked on the C&O railway (Now CSX). Just Google it and you'll see that he's affiliated with southern WV.
