I've always wondered - why is the guy reading a magazine about wagon wheels at the beginning? Good grief he needed some excitement in his life! (I guess that's where the Pontiac came in...)
I can't believe the ignorance regarding Fiero and the supposed fire risk. I've seen an F-150 catch fire due to cruise control and so what?! any vehicle fire is going to be sensational! I have 168k miles on my V6 Fiero GT and it's still here! GM had an initial sabotage batch of bad 4cyl in 84, and the wire junction was moved away from the manifold in 85-88. The car outsold Corvette and profitable every year it was made. The problem was GM overproduced 84 model year and saturated the 2 seater mkt
You can ID it as an 85 GT because of the grey ground effects. If you look close in the rear view (at 0:15 sec) at the decklid, it does say Fiero GT which, being a notchback also provides positive ID that it can only be an '85 GT.
About 200 fires occurred only to '84 model year Fieros. ALL '84 Fieros were recalled, every last one, with modifications being made to eliminate the fire hazard. Several parts were redesigned for '85 and later Fieros and all 130,000+ 1984 Fieros were retrofitted with these parts, basically new exhaust shielding to keep oil off of it.
The '84 model in particular had a high failure rate of its engine rods that posed a fire risk if ejected from the engine. I drove my '85 4-cylinder model 245K and had no problems.
yeah, exactly like the panels on a brand new Corvette! Would you call them shit, too? I suppose YOUR car has a 100% rust and corrosion proof body, which is not made up entirely of light weight composites which bolt directly to a space age subframe, like the Fiero was? Sure, I bet!
Oh my goodness...look at the 0:18 mark. I think they pasted Lisa Best over an older "Wicked" girl. You can see her face for a 1/4 of a second before Lisa appears... Looks like this is the 1986 version of an older commercial, guys.
@RetroWinnipeg , You are so right and how did you notice? I do remember the older commerical and the girl as well. It was before the Lisa Best and Brother Jake Edwards (of 92 CITI) era.
That car looks fresh :D
