Listening to this music reminds me of when I used to go to my grandma's house during the summer in the 90's, and this theme song would play every afternoon at 1:30 pm. Then Bern Bennett would close with "Join Us Again, for "The Young and the Restless". I used to really like this show.
@coolwafferman Oh yeah same here I used to watch Y&R all the time during my summer vacations. I was in elementary school during this time and I couldn't wait till summer so I could be able to watch the show everyday.
I used to enjoy this closing everyday around noon at the end of Y&R. It is a shame that viewers don't get to hear this great theme anymore while the credits rolled. Just another thing networks have ruined for viewers.
This was the first "serious" music I got a crush on as a kid--I even set my alarm clock to go off at the right time to turn on the tv to listen to this theme as Young and the Restless came on (in my tv market) right before "New Zoo Review", which was my favorite show at the time.
The networks don't realize how much the closing theme music has on the impact of the show. Removing it altogether like they have just makes it less identifiable to viewers and less appealing.
Yeah, what it comes down to now is every minute of airtime is a minute to make money or promote other shows to keep the viewership in-place for their marketing division. If it means "crunching" or speeding credits and stepping over theme music, so bit it. That's business. Heck, even some Premium pay-channels started doing that to their movies, along with their annoying translucent logos haunting the corners.
You'll notice even primetime sitcoms don't have the creative opening themes they once had. Some shows just list the cast on the screen during the opening scenes. Closing music I could see cutting, but openings no.
@jmsweat I remember when Little House On The Prairie's opening theme used to be a good two minutes long towards the end of their run! THAT was the good old days for television, and I wasn't around yet!
Hypnotic...

@pbanta62 LOL its kind of ironic in the show "Mad Men" where the cast's names have one to two seconds each...

Why is the music overdubbed? Where is Bern Bennett's voice on the end of the credits?
