  • 35mpg combined, now that's awesome. Yet some new compacts boasts about their 40mpg hway but when you actually tests it, it can only get less than 30mpg combined. Japanese cars prove on the road while others on aesthetics/specs. I'll take the first one.

  • its fine if you wanna drive a crackerjack box but save a lot of $ on fuel.

  • corolla = saving your money .... i mean (( fuel ))

  • Got a great deal today on a 2010 Corolla. Under $15k, 9k on the odometer, original factory warranty....I look forward to driving it for years to come!

  • @toyota4life94 cuz theyre cheap

  • since when did they make a XLE version for the Corolla?

  • @counkev They've only just stopped for the 2011 model year.

  • Comment removed

  • @counkev the xle model is just in usa but i think your living in canada

  • 07 corolla standard- sick, waaay faster than this autobox. i almost got an 09 but got an 07 instead. corners real hard tonnes of power (by myself) adequite to below if five people are in the car and coolers in the trunk. i just did 34 combined drivin pretty fast but also coasting and only 100 kms of that was highway.

  • in your opinion Elantra, Sentra, Or Corolla. I don't like honda's.

  • this or nissan sentra?

  • for those ppl who keep saying it's too slow, corolla is a compact family car meaning not to be driven hard...if you want to be fast then by all means buy yourself a Bugatti Veyron top speed 253mph FYI...or get a 1000cc bike like R1

  • this car is just like all toyotas: a plain looking, cheaply made, overpriced piece of crap

  • slow as dirt

  • Everyone has their own opinion, it like it. Its a great car. Maybe its not as sporty as the Mazda 3 but its a great small family car.

  • very under powered.

  • toyota didn't really do anything to this so called 2nd gen or redesign except update the styling a bit. everything else is the same form the previous one. there are so many cars in this class that are much better.

  • I've driven this car a couple times and it's one of the worst handling cars I've ever driven. I rented a new Mazda 3 and it's interior is nicer and handling way better, just a tad louder. This car is good for people who never drive sporty. I personally think better handling cars are safer cars, especially if you have to avoid something in an emergency situation. Good reasons to buy this car would be the fuel efficiency and the reliability. I think the Honda Civic owns this segment though.

  • Good car for the money. They should make a Corolla with the Rav4 engine, The 3.5 liter V6. That will be awesome

  • @LazBro123 why dont you just put a rav ingine in the corrolla, you'll experience the same thing honda did with the 98 to 02 accords and tl's, TRANSMISSION FAILURE because of a too big engine

  • great driver car,bad family car, uncomfy seats at back n noisy cabin might make yer family complain

  • @KPKonliner what do you expect from a toyota

  • I wouldn't mind having this car but then again I want power also.

  • have u test drive it yet ? corolla's throttle wire helps to increase corolla's gas response,u should test drive it

  • lol 11 sec to 60 lmao

it would be ok, if people dding try to drive them like sports cars.

  • I don't know why people keep sayin that these cars are for women. I'm a black male and I own one of these cars.

  • i have the same feeling.

  • @Jklooli I agree, some people say the Camry's are for women 2, which I think is complete BS, because they are awesome car's, and you can get a V6 under the hood if you wanted one.

  • @joewillgo What makes it "awesome" though? The Corolla has absolutely nothing going for it other than a relatively low price, reliability, and good milage. The interior is pure plastic, the steering and pedals feel vague and numb, and it is by no means fast. It's just a generic, cookie-cutter economy car with nothing but a different name/badge differentiating it from other cookie-cutter sedans. No, those points weren't just opinions, they're quite factual if you look at the car objectively.

  • @Cosmo1093 Well I talking about the Camry. But when it comes to a compact car, I would just get a 2011 Hyundai Elantra.

  • man i am 16 and that 1.8 is amazing i went 170 kmph heading to my cottage and i still avg. 36 mpg

  • The average fuel economy was probably over a lot of miles so going that speed for a fraction of the time wont affect it really.

  • Keep going like that and you will not live long, you do not race with corollas, they dont handle too good at high speeds

  • @Mario4Italy 1.8 132hp,128lbs of torque i have the same in my 2004 dodge neon (back then in 2004 toyotas had only 110hp) and still today with my neon its a lot faster plus i get good gas mileage 26city,32highway and it does it in 8.4sec,and 16 in the 1/4 and back then it was wayyyyyy cheaper than a toyota corolla so my dad bought it gave it to me recently it has 80k miles.

  • ha probably 1983

  • compensating much fenwayfan1?

  • @fenwayfan1 I think you're a fag just for saying that.

  • one thing thats odd that annoyed me about the focus...is that the rear speakers are built in the sides of the doors rather than in the very back....it doesnt sound very good....idk why they did that

  • yaris has better gas mileage n almost similar legroom so why not prefer cheaper yaris sedan ?

  • Comment removed

  • if u have family,dont buy corolla,da rear seats r nightmare,i own it

  • i have an 09.i have enough room.i have 2 kids.

  • roomy but not comfortable second row seats for adults

  • the focus blows...i drove one...its throttle response is dogshit...and the interior is just cheap..really cheap feeling and looking...

  • I leased one in 2007, wasn't bad at all. Sync was great on it, interior wasn't worse than a corolla, my sister has a 2008 corolla and she likes it, I thought the focus I had was better but it's up to the driver to decide.

  • You're trying to match up a Focus to one of *THE* if not *THE* most reliable highest quality budget car on the market...?

They're not exactly in the same league for quality you know.

  • Just because the corolla is a good seller and has good quality doesn't mean that the focus is worse. Have you been in a focus? The interior is fine, and good fit and finish. The corolla is awesome I know, but if people want a sportier handling car and some more horses, they might consider the focus.

  • But the Focus *is* worse. I know two people that had a Ford Focus. One had rust on the rear hatch within a year. The other one had bad shocks, water buildup *inside* the door (water couldn't get out), and rear light covers that didn't fit right.

The Lemon Aide guide doesn't rate this car very good at all.

Historically, Ford has been awful. Winstar and Taurus being one of their worst products.

    Also, the Corolla accelerates faster.

Car choices is like religion, but the *facts* are available.

  • corolla gets better mpg. in real time driving

  • When car&driver tested, the focus got better fuel economy than the corolla.

  • Car and Driver has a comparison test with the 2009 corolla, focus, and a few others. That test said the corolla's fuel economy was best of the group.

  • Yea I saw that but I also saw a corolla review where they got 22mpg but that was the Corolla XRS review, my bad.

  • yeah the xrs has a bigger engine than the other corollas.

  • If you live near Norwalk, CA, I just saw a really great deal on a 2009 Toyota Corolla Automatic... At Norwalk Toyota they have an internet special priced at only $17,119! That's pretty awesome for a car that gets 35 MPH highway!

  • nice review
