most bikes will stand up and ride forever as long as you slip the clutch with enough rpm to get right to the balance point. just remember to keep your foot on that rear break!
ive got an 2009 r6, stock exhaust.. i have to rev it even in first gear to lift it up.. and in second gear? man.. its hard to lift it up.. have to clutch and throttle as hell and still i dont get if off ass often =S=S am i doing this wrong or is the bike just to weak?

@MrStellaah im no expert, but i know how to ride a bike.. i manage to wheelie, but not that good on an r6, when i bought fireblade.. much easier, much cooler.. than rpm the r6 to 10k to manage to get it up, its not as cool as just slipping the clutch in 2gear with an 1000cc.. smooth and simple =)

hey isn't it bad for your engine to wheelie that long? its hard to get oil to all the parts i heard... my buddie blew his engine doing this, or rather while doing this. To be fair tho his engine had racing internals which is what let go... just givin you a heads you, you got some skill tho :)
@jakeshist Yeah I had a friend who did the same thing but it actually has nothing to do with the racing internals. The oil pick-up to squirt the oil around the motor is located on the front of the engine on the R6 (back on GSX-Rs, etc) so when you're in a wheelie for too long the engine isn't being lubricated properly.

@wsvitak Its a 2003 R6, the first year they changed everything...it'll come up in 2nd and 3rd you just need to rev it pretty high, definitely practice 2nd gear though because it has enough torque to bring you back down when you let off the throttle if going too far back.
@jnost161 It was the first year the R6 got fuel injected...it got a complete makeover on pretty much everything thing on the bike (frame, forks, brakes, motor, lights, etc.)

@damnduke Nah i popped it up in 2nd at about 45 mph and rode it out from there. Its way easier to shift when doing a sit down wheelie but i would just practice popping it in 2nd.

@davidrunnenburg Well the problem isnt the gas, its the oil. On the R6's the oil pickup is in the front of the motor, so when in a wheelie for too long the oil just sits at the bottom of the motor and isnt lubricating the whole thing. If that happens for too long then the motor can seize which would suck! I usually set it down a little bit after the oil light comes on.

how many psi do you run in your back tire??i have a 2001 r6 with a 51T sporcket and i run around 10-15 psi and it comes up nice an 3rd and 4th.i cant wheelie in 2nd cuz that gear slips..have you had any probles with 2nd gear sliping???
@863RIDER I actually barely took any out of the back tire, its pretty close to what the pressure should be...but no i never had a problem w/ 2nd gear slipping they remade the bike from the ground up in 2003 (which is my year)

nce dude, one problem........i have money that says he hasnt relocated to oil pump and riding for that long on one wheel is going to start wearking havoc on your motor after about 1/2 a mile.....the pump is up front, oil runs to the back, sucks air thru the oil pump and motor runs on no oil ........that thing is toast if he does this on a regular

yeah it'll hold at 3rd its actually alot smoother, but i would recommend having a hand brake if you do it in 3rd cause if you get too far back then engine speed alone wont bring the front back down. around 50mph you just have to clutch it more

yeah it'll hold at 3rd its actually alot smoother, but i would recommend having a hand brake if you do it in 3rd cause if you get too far back then engine speed alone wont bring the front back down. around 50mph you just have to clutch it more
