I just saw the James Bond Movie Diamonds are forever. Ed Bishop was one of the scientists in the lab that Bond broke into. "Checking radiation levels".
About a year and half ago. He and Michael Billington who played Paul Foster died within a week of each other, despite the age gap. Billington lost his battle with cancer in his early 60s, meanwhile Ed went to hospital for some relatively minor tests, just days before his 73rd Bday, and contracted a virus in the Goddamned hospital and passed away from it! Appalling, I was really upset when I heard.
Time really does fly, Mr. Dark. They both passed away in 2005. Ed Bishop died on 8 June and Michael Billington on 3 June and both will always be missed and remembered. Mustn't be sad, mustn't be sad I keep telling myself but sometimes that is hard.
Yes, I know how you feel. I have letters from Ed Bishop in my home and sometimes I think of that fact and realise this wonderful, generous man is gone and it really does cut deeply. I was just watching "Identified" today with my little boy who loves all the rockets. And I recall when I was a boy, UFO was one of the shows that got me hooked on Scifi. Much better than the souless stuff they make now!
I luv UFO...and Ed Bishop was a very nice human being who answered my letters and gave me feedback and advice about my UFO-inspired character Damon Dark. So sad he's gone. He'd have laughed his ass off at this great vid. Well done.
Well, I salute you for that. Keep those interceptors flying, I say! UFO should be remembered for years to come as one of the best SF series. I watch Dr.Who a lot these days, but really, it's in second place. UFO is always number one!
that was great! I never saw this as a kid. At least not that I remember, so I've been catching up on DVD and just love the show. This was a fun watch.
That's a rather oddball thing to say, really. I also liked Star Trek as a child and you can't say that Leonard Nimoy and Mr. Shatty have shifted their mortal coils yet!!!
Are you head of the opinion police??? I can express my opinion dickhead!!!
The two leads on UFO died within a month of each other... I was surprized to see it was all that long ago... We're talking almost 40 years ago here mate, they're all dead now bar Anderson himself.
IMHO Star trek was 3rd rate compared to anything Gerry Anderson produced.
No, are you? I'm also entitled to express my opinion.
The two leads died within days of each other. It was a very sad time. Some of the female actresses are still alive like Gabrelle Drake, Wanda Ventham and, of course, Sylvia Anderson is also alive and kicking and may she keep on doing so.
And I agree with you about your Star Trek comment. UFO was ahead of its time in so many ways. ^__^
Do you know what SID stands for?
sitting duck because that's what it is, a sitting duck in space.
These aliens are lousy shooters and lousy tacticians.
They obviously had no proper training or was it the five months in a spinning UFO that they could aim properly?
This also explains the green liquid. It is bile from all the puking!
