  • @venzalfred1 Jejemon, please start typing correctly. It's not surprising to find out that Villar attracts people such as yourself. What he did is similar to plagiarism and you should see through your chosen candidate's lies. Before you say anything about any other candidate you must have EVIDENCE. This Is The Truth and Lost Generation are examples of works copied by Villar. If what we said truly does not mean anything to you, then you should not have bothered typing a comment.

  • i like the songs. they use both of them in Amelie

  • @ferlie219 I Know right. :( Villar sucks!

  • @ferlie219 Eh ano naman kung ginaya ni villar, big deal? hindi naman. marami naman na siyang natulungan, at tutulungan palang, kaya ako, SOLID VILLAR!

  • @quesoarmy Let's see if he gets past elections, then we test what kind of person he truly is.

  • villar..OMG

  • wow! im impressed with this campaign!

  • langhiya and villar agreed to do something that has been done many many MANNY times before. hahay.

  • Villar,,KING OF MIMICRY

  • does this make manny villar less capable?

    btw i think it's a great ad.

  • walang originality c villar.....

  • Manny Villar hired the expertise of TBWA/Philippines. The very same ad company that made the Argentinian Ad Campaign of Lopez Murphy. They admitted that it adapted the Villar ad from the Argentinian politician's ad. The agency said it belongs to a worldwide network of ad agencies and that many of its ideas for ads have been adapted in several ... See Morecountries. Among its ideas are ads for adidas, Pedigree, Absolut, Apple and Nivea.

  • @coolmacky may i know your source?

  • Great, but also check out "The future of publishing", also on Youtube, created by DK Publishing

  • liarroyo!

  • @sorlem88 nice comment. He is such a liar. He even used the death of his brother Danny in one of his commercial, shame on him!

  • @o4elle

Their ad agencies are the same. TBWA.

  • Ohhhh. So Villar's plagiarizing eh? Wow. model president talaga. (sarcasm)

  • This ad is so brilliant that had to Manny Villar copy it. What a shame Villar! What a shame!

  • Manny Villar is a liar!!!!!

  • @LhizYchan16

Their ad agencies are the same. TBWA.

  • still campaign season and already a cheater? villar cannot anymore change his nature

  • hahah.. ginaya ni VILLAROYO! waaah!

    MAN+EVIL+LIAR talaga!

  • @zieme0328

Their ad agencies are the same. TBWA.

  • imo, not to defend villar, but this style of video has been around the net. i don't think anyone can own the idea of this type of videos. and the content, i dont think this is tagalog either.

  • @0747542 Umm, name another video with this same style, if, as you have said, this "style of video has been around the net." The message/content of this Lopez Murphy political ad was plagiarized, plain and simple.

  • @0747542 Really? I bet you just found out this video (other than Villar's) just now. If you really did saw others, guess what? There's still a proper term for that: PLAGIARISM.

  • @iamsuperchristian

Their ad agencies are the same. TBWA.

  • Fack Villar. taking from someone's campaign adds and copied it. fack him.

  • @markalonzo23 Which one? Even so, is it a complete copy or an adaptation of the system?

  • @kingandaubrey yup..... PLAGIARIZED BY SEN. MANNY VILLAR, for short

  • this has been ripped off by Manny Villar (and whichever ad agency he hired)

  • good ad:-bd

  • a Politician in the Philippines plagiarize this ad.

  • What's the prob with that? Its called plagiarism, berniebette. Plagiarism is an act of dishonesty. So its very telling of his set values, including yours, doesn't it?

  • @madonna0124 Plagiarism, as far as I know, is illegal, as in you can go to jail.

    That is all.

  • FUCKING great!!!

  • FUCKING great!!!

  • simply amazing....

  • This is quite predictable, though I must say it's not that easy to create these reversible paragraphs

  • this ad was copied by a politician in the philippines who is running for president.

  • Comment removed

  • he's not claiming it's his original idea.. so whats the prob with that?

  • amazing stuff dude

  • Hats off to the RECREAR guys!! awesome stuff...i m a fan 4 life !!

  • @sabrin321 He Came Fourth.

  • bloody brilliant

  • took the words out of my mouth!

  • Yann Tierson Music!

This is a genius ad! I don't know about the candidate, but I love his commercial. : D

  • Very good idea. The SPD (social democratic party of germany) has recently copied it for the votes on September 27th.

Search for "Sie haben die Wahl" by "SieHabenDieWahl09"

  • la valise d'amelie is the music

  • This is so clever. It's just a shame he didn't get elected.

  • He is a son of a bitch that sunk us to misery and despair in the 90s

He even reduced a miserable social security so he could give all the money to the IMF.

This fucker does not deserve to be elected. He deserves to be hanged

  • Wiki'd him ... yeah I see he's on their side ... crap.

    Really neat ad, bad politician

  • @rosriley Lopez Murphy is an idiot and a thief. I thank God that he didn't get elected.

  • great:)

  • thats very nice

  • Fernando Sorín didn't write the music. The first track is "La Dispute", and the second is the piano arrangement of "La Valse D'Amelie". Both are by Yann Tiersen, and are part of the soundtrack for the film "Amelie"

  • Palindromes are awesome - rise to vote sir!

  • haha

  • i love this!

  • This is on that commercial breakdown show now. Can someone give me a link to previous new zealand ad about the wailing woman on omsk?

    Many thanks.

  • yeah! i was looking for that as well, but i haven't been able to find it haha

  • Wow, tears in my eyes. So clever. And heartfelt.

  • Guys, what's the name of the song in the second half of the video?

  • The song in the first half is La Dispute by Yann Tiersen, the second half is La Valse D'Amelie by Yann Tiersen also! Both songs are from, as far as i know, the BRILLIANT French film Amelie.

  • just watched this on Commercial Breakdown on tv. was very funny :P

  • yeah thats where i saw it too

  • omg, this is brilliant, its a shame he only came fourth

  • Awesomee.

  • Lol, too bad if the tv-stations said something like: sorry, we only have time for the first half of the commercial..xD

  • Just awesome. :)

  • sad enough, he ended up fourth

  • it just briljand!

  • woow this campaigncommercial is crazy, but brilliant!

    i am stunned :o

  • Best political ad I've seen. Sad Lopez Murphy didn't won, though... If he's nearly as creative as his campaign crew, Argentina could indeed be saved...

  • Hey, that song is from Amelie! I love that movie!

And no, that statement is not a palindrome because a palindrome is the same physically when read backwards. Like "racecar" or "Able I was ere I saw Elba."

    But I'm just arguing semantics.

  • mali lor4e kak 6te te pera v gazqgata :D

  • nego gledaite pulni gluposti :D:D lora da ti go slagam v pi4kata

  • hahahah qvno ne go biva :P~ :D

  • nego biva neta ti lora :D

  • Yes, THIS is brilliant. How does redoing it with a new set of cliched text (Lost Generation) make that version "great"?

Sorry kids. This goes beyond "Mashups" - Lost Generation is just a direct lift. If you did this in professional world, your career would be over.

    Originality, a lost art.

  • Got here from the 'Lost Generation' video. Very nicely done.

  • the whole world needs to turn upside down

  • Buenísimo!!!!

  • did this win uhm first place in the contest?

  • Brilliant

  • what type of writing is this? it is so amazing!

  • it's a palindrome

  • Nope. Palindromes are sequences of characters that can be read the sameway in either direction,

  • Actually, palindromes can use groups of words, or just the words themselves. This, in particular, is a line-unit palindrome poem. Check out a more famous palindrome poem called Doppelganger. Next time you try to correct someone, you should make sure that you actually know what you're talking about.

  • Wrong.

Doppelganger is a palindrome, but even though this text makes sense when read forward or in reverse, this is not a palindrome since you can't start either with the first line and read forward, or the last line and read in reverse and still be the same text, and it does not even qualify as a poem either! It's just a political text that can be read in either direction.

Next time you try to correct someone, you should make sure that you actually know what you're talking about.

  • Doppelganger is in the same exact format as this speech. While it may not be a poem, it copies the format of a palindrome poem. If a transcript of the speech was written out, it would begin and end with the same line, and could be read from either direction.

  • I think that's just part of the definition. Here is Wikipedia's , which I agree with:

"A palindrome is a word, phrase, number or other sequence of units that can be read the same way in either direction (the adjustment of punctuation and spaces between words is generally permitted)"

The important thing about palindromes is that the whole thing can be read the same way in either direction.

This speech can be read in either direction, but cannot be read the in reverse and still be the same.

  • I think you're both right.

The advert certainly has characteristics of a palindrome, but its presentation (the creative reversal of direction of the highlighted area) may mean it doesn't visually fall directly into the parameters of definition.

However if the advert was simply read to you (without you seeing the words) you could argue that it has the same format as Doppelganger - a line unit palindrome.

Therefore it's a palindrome in narrated prose, but not necessarily in visual presentation.

  • It doesn't matter if it sounds similar or if it can be read in reverse. To be a palindrome it must fit the definition. Doppelganger is a palindrome because it fits the definition, while this speech doesn't.

If one creates a computer program to identify palindromes this would not pass, because it must be the same when read forward or in reverse (in accordance with the constraints and flexibility presented in the definition).

  • Ok, hypothetically, can a palindrome exist without being written down? E.g. can I create one in my head and perform it? Answer, I would have thought is yes. And therefore can a performance of prose be recognised as a palindrome by an audience? I would have thought logically yes.

So the question I ask is that would a blind expert in palindromes recognise the advert above as a palindrome (a line unit version)? Or not?

Perhaps the advert is visually not a palindrome, but it is in narration.

  • That still does not count, because some might say yes and some might say no. It's not a matter of opinion or vote.

Any expert should know what's a palindrome and what's not, and to make that difference he/she would use the criteria of the definition, that would include also a blind expert of course. Therefore I would assume that the blind expert would not recognize it a palindrome just as any other expert would not either.

  • Hehe, I tried to draw out a greater understanding of the concept of a Palindrome by looking at both sides of the arguement and what has happened is that on a Friday night I've been drawn into a typical non-compromising online post-fest when I should be chilling out!

If I'm totally honest I don't know and can't prove the correct answer (although I think I'm right).

Just one final question. What proof would the blind expert give to prove that the advert was not a palindrome?

    It continues...

    :)

  • And to use your computer program arguement. If the computer only had an audio input to listen to a) a narrated version of this advert and b) the poem Doppelganger, would it differentiate that Doppelganger was a palindrome and this advert was not?

I don't believe it would. Both would pass the test as palindromes.

Although if a computer that looked at them solely visually, it WOULD say this advert was NOT a palindrome and Doppelganger WAS.

    Blah, blah, blah...

(hope your Friday is going well!)

  • The argument you are posing goes like this: "this sounds pretty much like a palindrome that it's hard to tell the difference, so it qualifies as one at least in the audio part". But that's a false-positive. That is that things that do not fit the actual definition can fall in your assumption, that would even include a computer program.

A well written program and a clean input would probably disqualify the advert as a palindrome. Continues...

  • The question would be instead "What proof would you give to prove that the advert is a palindrome?"

Presupposing what would some might hear or not does not qualify as evidence.

In order for your idea to work you would have to change the definition.

  • I get what you're saying. I really do. It's all interesting points that are being thrown up.

Out of interest, I'd appreciate examples of both how the blind expert and audio only computer program would prove they're not palindromes. You can't just say that they would, that's supposition not fact.

  • Oh, and to continue on your developed argument. If a piece of prose was a palindrome in some circumstances, but not in others. Is it or is it not a palindrome? Can it both be and not be at the same time? It's all down to interpretation. Just because a piece of prose fails to be a palindrome in some cases is not justification to deny it's a palindrome in others. Perhaps the advert is both a palindrome and not.

Ok ok , just seen your second reply, one second (this is getting silly)...

  • You would think that a blind expert would recognize the ad as a palindrome, and I say that he would not. Both are assumptions, not evidence, and that is exactly my point.

The only fact is the definition. So, under the definition I have actually proven that "visually" this is not palindrome, in the other hand you have to yet prove that it is in the audio part,

If it's a palindrome in some parts, but not in others, then it's not a palindrome.

    Continues...

  • If you saw the script that Lopez Murphy read from you'd identify it as a palindrome I bet.

Look, let's agree to disagree before we drive each other mad!

    Best wishes,

    Henry.
