Are you insane idiots? In 86 WRC are b€ating in many fronts the.. F1!! F.I.S.A was pressing and take the right time to change the rules!! Where has died more rally drivers in the 80s and 90s? Portugal? haha!! The problem has beginning in 83 and Henri have said in 82 that F.I.S.A are in wrong way with safety in the cars!! Alen, Rhorl, Vatanen, Salonen etc. even today Portugal is in their top 3 best rallyes!! About rallying, you`re all much poor than my bad English! Kid`s, if you don`t now STFU!
I missed, the muscle cars, the group b monsters, and was born 91 when real rally died, formula 1 died 3 years later, when ayrton crashed, and now i'm left with videos and weak rice cars....new technologies are good too, but can't even be compared with legends....
@gpfitz11 Now its all our fault? Don´t forget that there was 2 major accidents with group B, killing 1 pilot and 2 co-drivers. My country didn´t kill group B, it was doomed right from the beggining. With todays car technology and roll cages they could be brought again but its all a matter of money
i noticed three nascar drivers:) but serioesly, these drivers were MEN,not rich pussys sliding on empy airfield....no disrespect to americans but you will never be same kind drivers like these men were and u cant clime even the modern wrc level.just stick at where u are good at.btw if some turd says one more time that ken block is the best driver in world,im gonna explode and shit my pants:)
what 400 bhp ? hhahhahahha yea in the begining like the urquattro but than the highest reached bhp haved quattro most of them were 550 bhp but some were 600 - 650 no ther car haved more horsepower
@badmojo420 ITS GONE FOREVER, let it go..... so much Death occurred during Group B events. LEAVE THOSE PEOPLE WHO LOST LOVED ONES ALONE, Group B is gone. and is Now a great memory.
Ari Vatanen made his near fatal accident in 1985 and was lost for group B forever. Timo Salonen was the real ace of the mighty small Peugeot but nobody mentions him.
Walter Röhrl didn`t get any title with group B car. Hanno Mikkola did it with group B Audi.
The most killer B car was Ford RS 200 -- killed 4 spectators and one co-driver. Ironically, Ford failed totally as a rally car. Second one was Lancia Delta S4 -- 1 pilot and 1 co-driver. Bronze medal -- Lancia Rally 037 -- 1 pilot.
jesus christ !!! who let the yank talk bout group B ?? he hasnt a fuckin clue !!! they were NOT all 4wd !!!!!!! killer bs ?? what a load of shit !!! these cars wer the ultimate in any form of racing and they proved it !!
the fact that eastern european fans decided to block the road with human walls till the last second is the cause of it being cancelled !! the 'fans' ruined it all
Do you really think, that countries like Italy and Portugal are in eastern Europe? Can you tell us any world championship rally race held in eastern Europe? These cars are great, I lie them, but unfortunately too powerful.. as Walter Rohl said - thoughts are too slow for these cars...
Well, in 60's there was no group B and therefore crazy fans from eastern Europe can't be the reason for canceling group B as ollietuckitintome mentioned...
Rajd Polski was a part of WRC in 1973 and then back in 2009 is that correct?:-)
the chassis for group b cars were very light but made from unsafe materials such as glass fibre, which could be penetrated by sharp objects such as stones, which led the organisers to debate whether to stop group b rallying. Henri Tiovonen and Sergio Cresto also died which was the final nail in the coffin i think. There were many factors but the main ones were the unsafe nature of the cars, the crazy fans and the deaths that occured.
Don't forget, porsche had their 959 which they intended to rally as well. In race form, 800hp was likely (remember, they made a 1200hp can am car in the 70s, they're insane...) and audi was testing a 1000hp rocket of a car. When they saw the cars in the pipeline and the deaths the current ones caused, they knew this had to end.
Czechoslovakia did enter a few driver driving Skodas in the 1300cc class. They actually managed to races with them, and in the British Rally Championship they even won with those 1300cc Skodas in the mid 80's.
@Metallicakicksbutt they raced 1300cc skodas in group B? c'mon...the Bs were the mazda rx7, audi s1, lancia s4, toyota corolla, metro 6r4, ford rs200, lancia 037, renault 5, peugeot 205t16, citroen 4tc, porsche 959 and i guess those were all.
He's probably thinking about Pikes Peak. The Audi had more power than ever in 1987 for that event but they used 'only' circa 500 BHP in World Rallies.
Hannu Mikkola said that he had full boost on 2 stages in rally finland 85. 800hp with wastegates closed. His engine blew after few stages, but he did record 127km/h average speed on Ouninpohja with that beast and full power. normal power output for s1e2 was around 550hp, but they could boost it up if needed.
"Better group b drivers developed technics that required pressing cluth, brake and accelator same time" wtf? I used to do heel and toe every day... Understandably americans are impressed to see car make left and right turn on same track. Group b monsters rock!
Well if it is any consolation Cars 2 flopped, and got pretty bad reviews. On Rottentomatoes, the site for aggregate review scores it has a rotten rating, and critics say things like:"Pixar has finally produced a dud".
I won't ever waste my time watching that critical and commercial flop from Pixar.
I really need to play some Dirt 3 right now...
