It was a part of our day until early 2005. I just clicked submit to a Winn Dixie application, and my mum screams out "Winn-Dixie is going out of business." Thank you Winn-Dixie; your old building is now one of the most ghetto grocery stores in the damn city!
Yes, I remember those prices too, but money was worth more back then. There's a few of them here in the Tampa Bay Area. What gets me is they actually opened up a new store on on Armenia Ave and Waters (Still under the Winn-Dixie name), and they are supposed to be bankrupt? Yeah, they have other stores under the 'Save-Rite' name and guess what store products these places carry? Yeah, mostly the Winn-Dixie brand. Maybe not as bankrupt as they claim to be. Just my humble opinion.
Half gallons of ice cream only $.99 and today the price is around $3.99 while the product package amount has also decreased. Thtat's a 5 times increase in price. Same as everything else doubling, tripleling in price and higher, yet, min wage hasn't even doubled since that time. How do they expect people to do it? Food markets are taking advantage of people today. It is basically extortion.
I myself, have had no choice but to cut out well over 80% of the products I use to buy.
Winn Dixie left NC in 2005 I used to buy all my food there. I miss Winn Dixie. They had the best meat out of any store I ever shopped at. Their steaks were so tender, It was probably the way the beef was cut by the meat department. I guess they still have Winn Dixie in Florida and maybe Texas.
I miss the smaller grocery stores that we used to have in Oklahoma like Piggly Wiggly, Food Lion, and IGA. They've all been pretty much driven out of business by Wal-Mart and Target grocery stores.
I miss all them old store brands at Winn Dixie such as Astor, SuperBrand, Crackin Good, and Deep South. They were all so wonderful I wish they still had them.
when i was growing up i use to go with my grandmother to winn dixie she would never shop anywhere else and it was always paper bags

@dahoss65 I hear you on that and agree. I haven't had a raise in 3-4 years, but the cost of living keeps going up.

@Sheri451 They're gone from Texas too. They're still here in Alabama, but Publix is the best store by far in this area.
