  • Don't you just love all the critics on here? Seems that everything is wrong. Well, I think it is great and I wish I could play like that. Also, would love to have that organ. I am watching local ads and ebay. Most are just too far away from me. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

  • @nevergot2much Yep in fact; it seems not so easy to make constructive comments :) I know I'm not perfect, but I know my instruments can make people jealous, he he he ! Thanks for your comment, I'll cross my fingers for you : reed-organs and harmoniums are just great !

  • Il fallait savoir que c'était Stars and Stripes... Le début n'est absolument pas dans le rythme et nombre de passages sont faux... Mais sympa de faire revivre cet instrument.

  • I like that you are being watched over by Our Lady of the Treble Coupler.

  • The chord progressions on S & S F is pretty lame. Sousa marches and harmoniums don't go together---EVER!

  • Ha ha ha ... Why not ?

  • You say this has been repaired? I hope you didn't pay someone to do it. You shouldn't have to be pumping so furiously to create big sound. A bellows which is leaking can cause much lost of volume and sustainability in these old American reed organs. The playing was satisfactory.

  • Dear Altpapai, I didn't pay someone :) It was the first instrument I repaired. In fact, it arrived home in numerous pieces ...

  • My second restoration arrived at my house in many pieces as well. The entire keyboard had been disassembled and stuff into grocery bags. I had to re-cloth the bellows but luckily none of the actual musical mechanism had been disturbed. A thorough cleaning and vacuuming and the bellows and reassembly and it sounds superb. It's a Cornish chapel organ with four and a half full ranks of reeds including a 16' subbass from F to CC. A beauty I truly cherish. And all for $40u.s.!

  • Very very nice playing, nice armonium, and Our Lady image its very beauty :D, What song is played? Its familiar for me... Dou you have the score? :D please? :D

    Greetings from Chile =D

  • Waw, thanks ! The song is originally(!) Stars and Stripes Forever, a march written by Souza if I remember. Sorry, I don't have the score :( Perhaps you can ask to an americain fanfare on YT ?

  • Awesome although, I'm not keen on stars and stripes forever. (personal opinion) although you do play it well.

  • I respect your opinion, sir; thanks for sharing it :) PS I saw your calliope comments, I love that instrument !

  • Hoi Belgologies,

  • That's good playing and a very nice Blessed Mother statue.

  • Thanks a lot; others videos will feature the Sacred Heart and Saint Philomena. Requests on demand :) Have a nice week !

  • So nice, sounds like some kind of sailor song. Makes me feel good.

  • Thanks a lot ! Some higher plays sound like calliope's !

  • I am glad to find this posting. These old parlor organs are wonderful instruments. I have enjoyed mine to no end. Your technique is good and I feel you are getting the most out of this console.

  • Thanks a lot. I have to work a lot, but it's a strange pleasure to play on it for me. Look at my other videos, I have others instruments like that :)

  • Your english is atrocious, but that's okay. How is the pump action, is it a cyclical pedal motion, or what is it.

  • Sorry for my english, I didn't study it enough at school :) How is your French ?

The pedal system is the traditionnal one we can find on reed-organs : two pedals, with straps, three vertical bellows. All is mecanic, no electricity or other auxiliary and external pumping.

  • Merci Boucoupe, and Bonsoir, is about the extent of my french, but my spanish is much better.

Am i wrong, or is this the same sound produced by an accordion?

  • That's the point ! All sounds are produced by air on the reeds, just as in harmonica's or accordions. But wood pieces and modulating systems (the vox humana is the best)help to produce different types of sounds.

  • Mine sounded like an accordion until I repaired the bellows. It has to do with the vaccum after each compression and could be due to any other number of things. It is most likely due to the setting of the pulls, however.

  • Many things can cause sounds variation : a leack of air (no pressure enough in bellows), a blocked or broken pull, the not tuned reeds, etc. Shall you post some videos of your instrument ?

  • Sure thing. This will happen more sooner than later. At present, my schedule is busy. I have an 1890's Cornish which was gotten in a flea market of $40. It did not work and hadn't for quite a while. I am not an expert but definately noticed a difference in sound quality when the bellows were sealed and flap reconstructed. Belgo, I will definaltely work on getting a vidoe posted :)

  • Yipee ! I will be happy to see how you worked on it; and to hear his different sounds. See you soon !

  • I hope to learn to play like that someday :-)

Great sound, I love reed organs

  • Waw, thank you :) I'm not sure my finger technique is so good ! Visit my channel, there are more reed-organs and harmoniums videos, and more to come next week ! If you need some info about reed-organs, send me an e-mail or visit my blog (in my profile).

  • Hi, nice music. What song is this? The Organ looks fantastic. Where did you repair it? Titus

  • Thank you. The songs (very freely interpretad) are : 'Stars and stripes forcevr', 'Nearer my God to Thee', and the 'Chat noir, chat blanc' movie theme. The rest is impro :) I repaired it in my home; you can see photos of it on my blog (see the description of the video). And the organ is indeed very nice-looking. Between vintage and neo-kitsh !

  • Quels sous-titres! Quels effets! Bravo! :) Je suis impressioné!

    J. ;)
