@gammypetra As you know, Manson was on death row until the death penalty was ruled cruel and unusual punishment and everyone currently on death row had his or her death sentence commuted to life in prison. That decision was overturned subsequent to that, but everyone on death row who had his or her sentence commuted was kept at 'life in prison.' Personally, I'd rather get the chair, an injection, the gas chamber .... anything other than rotting in prison my whole life!
@reymatt76 Manson is perfectly comfortable in prison, as it is really the only place he ever felt "at home" - he has stated this many times. He even begged to be allowed to stay in prison rather than be paroled, at one point; the irony of that fact, alone, is inescapable.

The women are up for parole all the time and they keep getting DENIED because the family members of the slain victims speak out against their parole. I don't personally believe that most of the women are dangers to society at all, but I also understand from the victims' perspective. It just goes to show you: one minute can affect your whole life.

Well, Atkins more than met her come uppance, dying of a slow acting and painful brain tumor while in prison, and undergoing an amputated leg in the process. I know that Manson has been beaten up a number of times in prison (as have the others, including the women), and that he lost a good amount of skin as a result of someone setting fire to him. As for Krenwinkel, Van Houten, Beausoleil, Watson and Davis, let them live long, LONG lives of torture in prison as well.

I find it INCREDIBLE the cops didn't immediately see a link in the Tate-LaBianca killings. Both were barbaric, seemingly senseless acts. Both involved victims from wealthy backgrounds and both involved words written in the victims own blood. And both occurred in the same city only two days apart. But somehow the police saw no obvious connection......simply unbelievable. If Susan Atkins had just kept her big mouth shut, the braindead cops would probably have never "solved" this case.
@breezeman199 -- Also, according to "Helter Skelter", the two separate teams investigating the Tate case and LaBianca case didn't coordinate anything very well. They had the gun used in the Tate murders (turned in to them by the person who found it) and intra-department communication was so bad that the gun sat in a miscellaneous evidence drawer for a few weeks with no one knowing what they had.
I think in those days they've felt because of the brutatlity of the scene and the word pig in blood, it was because of some religious cult I guess. That or because of the rumors that Sharon was suppose to be a devil worshiper mistaken for her role in a movie she was in.

I lived just below the Tate house at the time of the murders and had been out late that night and reutrned while they were still in the house; I saw their car at the bottom of the switchback road that led to the house and thought it was kids necking. It wasn't until the next morning when police cars (I counted 22) arrived and helpicopters flying overhead and everyone on Cielo Dr was stopped and had to show ID before proceeding for several weeks afterward.
In those canyons the acoustics are tricky; we heard nothing but a cub scout leader on a campout heard screams and someone yelling no no no no. I was in my car and only went to the switchback to turn around so I could go back to my house, so I didn't see anything other than the car. At that time, I think the only one in the car was Van Houten, the others were still up at the house.

Sharon was on the verge of superstardom, she could have hit it big.
Folger was involved in social work, something she was passionate about.
Voytek had been a filmmaker, and he had a talent for it.
Jay had a successfull hair salon, stars went to him on a regular basis.
Steve Parent had a talent for electronics.
Rosemary & Leno Labianca were business owners.
What a shame their lives were snuffed out.

No more than there is evidence to support that men score higher in math, because their brains are better "connected" for it. As a social scientist he would know that society places greater emphasis for certain sexes to excel in certain fields. However, it is well known that learning in English/Language is feminized more so in our society. Math is viewed more as a man's field. But this is all relative to our society, and society determines these outcomes of overall performance in the U.S. If you had studied science, you would know better; not be lashing out because of offense.

So, Manson had been there when Melcher & Bergen lived there, but he was also there after Sharon had moved in, so I think the murders were done there for convenience, because he knew the house, just as he....

@gammypetra As you know, Manson was on death row until the death penalty was ruled cruel and unusual punishment and everyone currently on death row had his or her death sentence commuted to life in prison. That decision was overturned subsequent to that, but everyone on death row who had his or her sentence commuted was kept at 'life in prison.' Personally, I'd rather get the chair, an injection, the gas chamber .... anything other than rotting in prison my whole life!

The women are up for parole all the time and they keep getting DENIED because the family members of the slain victims speak out against their parole. I don't personally believe that most of the women are dangers to society at all, but I also understand from the victims' perspective. It just goes to show you: one minute can affect your whole life.

Well, Atkins more than met her come uppance, dying of a slow acting and painful brain tumor while in prison, and undergoing an amputated leg in the process. I know that Manson has been beaten up a number of times in prison (as have the others, including the women), and that he lost a good amount of skin as a result of someone setting fire to him. As for Krenwinkel, Van Houten, Beausoleil, Watson and Davis, let them live long, LONG lives of torture in prison as well.

I've been watching and hearing about this case since the day it happened. No one mentions "Tex" Watson. I read somewhere that Charles Manson had came to Sharon's house before. Someone answered the door and he asked a question about who was living there and such. Did anyone else read or hear this? Just Wondering about it

@FlaxenHairedBeauty I have read the same thing as well - it is depicted in the movie that recently aired on the A and E channel - good flick by the way - I believe she was with a photographer and they were doing a photo shoot near her pool and Chuck was walking by - the photographer ran him off - apparently Chuck was seething when he left

@FlaxenHairedBeauty Manson knew the house well; Terry Melcher had it before Tate and Manson hung out there sometimes; Melcher told Manson he'd get him a record deal, and never did, and that's what pissed Manson off; he knew Melcher no longer lived there (he was in Carmel) but wanted to kill whoever was in the house anyway to vent his anger at the "establishment."
He was originally brought to the house by Greg Jakobsen, friend of Melcher's. He met Manson through some dune buggy deals.

I find it INCREDIBLE the cops didn't immediately see a link in the Tate-LaBianca killings. Both were barbaric, seemingly senseless acts. Both involved victims from wealthy backgrounds and both involved words written in the victims own blood. And both occurred in the same city only two days apart. But somehow the police saw no obvious connection......simply unbelievable. If Susan Atkins had just kept her big mouth shut, the braindead cops would probably have never "solved" this case.

@breezeman199 -- Also, according to "Helter Skelter", the two separate teams investigating the Tate case and LaBianca case didn't coordinate anything very well. They had the gun used in the Tate murders (turned in to them by the person who found it) and intra-department communication was so bad that the gun sat in a miscellaneous evidence drawer for a few weeks with no one knowing what they had.

I think in those days they've felt because of the brutatlity of the scene and the word pig in blood, it was because of some religious cult I guess. That or because of the rumors that Sharon was suppose to be a devil worshiper mistaken for her role in a movie she was in.

I lived just below the Tate house at the time of the murders and had been out late that night and reutrned while they were still in the house; I saw their car at the bottom of the switchback road that led to the house and thought it was kids necking. It wasn't until the next morning when police cars (I counted 22) arrived and helpicopters flying overhead and everyone on Cielo Dr was stopped and had to show ID before proceeding for several weeks afterward.

In those canyons the acoustics are tricky; we heard nothing but a cub scout leader on a campout heard screams and someone yelling no no no no. I was in my car and only went to the switchback to turn around so I could go back to my house, so I didn't see anything other than the car. At that time, I think the only one in the car was Van Houten, the others were still up at the house.
