i got way into this game as a kid... same reason i bought it though i loved SoM. however LoM gets fav.. game of all time to me.. after getting so intto it and learning everything about it ... even sitting there reading the encyclopedias drew me in, reading the historys of the toys in the junkyard etc.. it had so much in it people overlook but to each his own i suppose
I love this game. Has so much awesome music and so much to do so much to master! Would be awesome if they remade it for PSP like SO2 and FFT. Could easily add a ton of new quest. I was pretty crushed when playing the new ones, DS one especially. >.< They tried to revive it and failed horribly. I bought this game on impulse too. My mom won 1000 dollars n told me to buy whatever and the guy at EB offered me it since it just came out. I listened to the soundtrack with it so much and still do.
I'm surprised you loved Shimomura's work on this game, but not as much on Super Mario RPG. I thought both of them had great soundtracks, but I liked Super Mario RPG's more. What did you think of Bowser's Inside Story? I thought her work on that game was maybe her best work yet.
Amazing song. I remember pre-ordering this game to get the sound selection. I left school early and bussed out to the mall to pick it up. And soon, summer had started and I got to play this game. I didn't like it as much as Secret of Mana, but it still provided for a great time.
I've always liked Holy Palace of Mana, Sparkling City Destroyed, and The Gloaming. The Gloaming in particular, because of the creepy, urgent edge to it. As much as I like Grandia II's end boss theme, I like this game's a little more, even if it's for some impossible-to-define reason.
Anyway, I'd've thought this'd be higher on the list, but looking at the games you chose from, I haven't played damn near any of those games. One or three of 'em, I haven't even heard of.
I thiiiiink... if you would have included the Mana tree music ( The last stage of the game ), which I believe is a remix of this opening theme, but it's a lot more catchier.

This is actually my favorite Mana game. Yoko Shomomura did a beautiful job with the music. One of the best soundtracks I've heard in a video game

all RPG music title themes are sad. i think RPG's tend to be presented as tragedies, even if they end happily!

Yeah this game isn't so bad though everytime I kept trying to pick it up, I got lost in it after awhile. I don't know what it was.
It is a interesting concept that wasn't fully realized I guess. Sweet song though.

Aww, it wasn't the version with Swedish lyrics =P I guess that version isn't really emotional though =)

I may be wrong though...

I've actually thought about that version for a while, but the violin part in the opening version drew me in more.
